Casey Anthony: George, Cindy could supply drama at civil trial

Will the Casey Anthony civil trial be that riveting if she isn’t there?
You’d have to think not if Zenaida Gonzalez’s defamation suit goes to trial as scheduled next month.
But then I think back to the depositions that George and Cindy Anthony, Casey’s parents, gave to Gonzalez’s lawyers.
I look back at what I wrote in April 2009. Yes — April 2009. George and Cindy could supply the drama if Casey isn’t there.
Nearly three years ago, I wrote:
One reason the Casey Anthony case continues to absorb the public is the family. Parents George and Cindy Anthony have been dramatic figures who fascinate and infuriate the public.
They gave everyone a lot to consider during their heated depositions Thursday in Zenaida Gonzalez’s defamation suit against Casey. Gonzalez says Casey ruined her life by linking her to the child’s disappearance.
George was angry during his deposition. Cindy took hers to another level with finger pointing, harsh words for attorney John Morgan, an accusation that he slandered her and an attempt to question Gonzalez.
“This is outrageous,” Morgan said.
In an outrageous moment, Cindy weighed in on Gonzalez’s looks and said this Gonzalez wasn’t the babysitter that Casey described. “She doesn’t have perfect teeth. She’s not a 10,” Cindy said, motioning at Gonzalez. “I’m sorry, ma’am, you’re cute, but you’re not a 10.”
A family in this situation might be expected to act contrite and respectfully. Not the Anthonys, who were defiant. George didn’t answer some questions. They feel they’ve been wronged.
The Anthony family dynamics keep many people riveted, because how families interact is one of the timeless issues.
Since I wrote that, Casey was acquitted of murder in her daughter’s death. She is serving a year’s probation for check fraud somewhere in Florida. But her parents’ actions still draw interest – look at that interview Dr. Phil McGraw did in the fall. Just how much have George and Cindy Anthony changed since those 2009 depositions?
