UPDATE: Mother of missing Pittsylvania teen speaks out
By: GoDanRiver Staff WSLS

2:25 p.m. update:
The mother of the missing Pittsylvania County teen
says her daughter — 13-year-old Jennifer Renee Adams — had met a boy
over the Internet who may be 17 and she was last seen getting into a
car Tuesday in Milton, N.C.
“She was supposed to be going to a birthday party,”
said Jeannette Adams, during an emotional telephone interview Friday
afternoon.
“She didn’t seem like anything was wrong,” Adams added.
The teen was expected to go to the party with a
friend from summer school and spend the night with her, but she was not
in class the next day, Adams said. Also, there was no birthday party,
said Jennifer Adams’ aunt, Nicole Matherly.
A distraught Jeannette Adams said her daughter
loves to read mystery and vampire novels, sing and write and is
learning to play the guitar and piano.
“She’s a very talented young girl and has a lot to live for,” Adams said. “We just need to get her back so she can.”

UPDATE: Missing Ringgold teen found safe in eastern N.C.
06/08/2012
Jennifer Renee Adams — the Ringgold teen who was
reported missing Wednesday — was located safe and unharmed late Friday
night by the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.
She was found in eastern North Carolina, according to Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor.
“She was safe and unharmed and was with friends she had recently met,” the sheriff said.
Investigators located her by interviewing friends and social media.
“At this time she is being transported back to her
home in Pittsylvania County,” said Devin Taylor, a crime analyst with
the sheriff’s office.
The mother of Jennifer Renee Adams, 13, spoke out
earlier Friday during an emotional interview with the Danville Register
& Bee, calling the ordeal her “worst nightmare come true.”
Jeannette Adams said she was last seen getting into a
car Tuesday in Milton, N.C. She was at an aunt’s house just before she
went missing.
“She was supposed to be going to a birthday party,” said Adams.
“She didn’t seem like anything was wrong,” Adams
said. Adams was last seen near the Riverbend Road area of Milton N.C.,
at about 6 p.m. Tuesday. The teen’s mother had seen her before school
that morning.
Adams is a seventh-grader at Dan River Middle School.
The teen was expected to go to the party with a
friend from summer school and spend Tuesday night with her, but she was
not in class the next day, Adams said. Also, there was no birthday
party, said Jennifer Adams’ aunt, Nicole Matherly.
When she left her house Tuesday, Jennifer Adams, who
always wanted to go to California, carried just “a little bitty purse”
and no extra clothes or money, her mother said.
Jeannette Adams said she called 911 and reported her
missing to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office at around 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday.
Adams is described as a white female, 5-foot, 1-inch
tall, weighing about 150 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. She
was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black T-shirt with doodle art
work on the shirt, according to a news release.
Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor said she
left her aunt’s house walking to meet friends. Investigators spent
Thursday night following leads and Friday interviewing the teen’s
friends and relatives. The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, with
help from the Caswell County, N.C., Sheriff’s Office, is searching for
the missing juvenile.
A distraught Jeannette Adams said her daughter loves
to read mystery and vampire novels — especially the Twilight series —
sing and write and is learning to play the guitar and piano.
“She loves all kinds of music,” Adams said, adding that her favorite band is A7X.
Just a day before she disappeared, the teen and her mother had checked out books from the Danville Public Library.
“She’s a very talented young girl and has a lot to live for,” Adams said. “We just need to get her back so she can.”
Jennifer’s Aunt Nicole, who is not the aunt she was visiting Tuesday, described the teen as “a real sweet, loving girl.”
“[She is] sometimes a little depressed, other than that, she’s a happy girl,” Matherly said.
A Facebook member, Vickie Rivero, who commented on
an online story about Adams on GoDanRiver.com, said she saw someone
matching Adams’ description walking along Kentuck Church Road in
Ringgold at around 2 p.m. Thursday.
The individual was wearing dark blue jeans and a
black shirt tied in the back with a white shirt underneath, Rivero said.
She was carrying a small black purse and drinking an Icee, Rivero said.
The person was by herself but there was a group of girls walking toward
her.
