No Criminal Charges After 1-Year-Old Chokes on Baby Wipe

MIDLAND-Midland Police confirm today there are no criminal charges filed after a one-year-old boy in foster care choked on a baby wipe last week.

The incident happened at a Midland foster home where the child was placed by High Sky Children's Ranch. Executive Director Ja Lynn Hogan confirmed today that the child remains on life support at Covenant Children's Hospital in Lubbock.

Hogan said doctors do not believe the child has brain activity and that foster parents performed CPR on the child unsuccessfully before paramedics arrived.

"This is a very tragic and unfortunate accident," said High Sky Children's Ranch Executive Director Ja Lynn Hogan. "We will be evaluating the situation and looking at the results of the investigation and determining if there are any changes to be made. Specific details regarding the child's placement in foster care remain unavailable, but Hogan said the biological parents still have parental rights.
