Re: JOY HAAHR - 13 yo - Rock Falls IL
Thirteen year old Joy Haahr
went missing Monday. But investigators were originally treating her
disappearance as a runaway case. However, witnesses tell police they
last saw Joy with a male friend of her mothers.
Authorities are looking for 43 year-old Eric L. Smith. They think he's heading to
California or Louisiana with the thirteen year old. Smith is 5'9 with
hazel eyes and has several alias'. He's also wanted on a residential
burglary warrant.
Smith drives a red 1996 Ford F150 pickup truck, with Illinois plate number
57086U. If you have any information contact rock falls police.

A 13 year old girl and a 43 year old man have been picked up by police in
Ames, Iowa in connection with a child abduction case out of Rock Falls,
Illinois.
Rock Falls Police Chief Michael Kuepler says the teenage girl was
first reported as a missing person on December 7th. She was last seen
with a man who knew her mother and was later identified as 43 year old
Eric Smith. After interviewing classmates, police reclassified the case
on December 9th as a child abduction.
Police say Smith and the girl were found in a grocery store parking lot in Ames Thursday afternoon, inside a stolen car.
Police say Smith has a criminal record and served time for car
theft. He is wanted on an outstanding warrant for residential
burglary. He is also known as Eric Sterson, James L. Ramierz and
Thomas Halfman.

Re: JOY HAAHR - 13 yo - Rock Falls IL
A man and a 13-year-old girl he is alleged to
have abducted were taken into custody without incident Thursday
after a two-state search that was aided when police tracked pair by
the man’s cell phone.
Rock Falls police spent most of Thursday looking for Eric L. Smith,
also known as Eric Sterson, 43, and Joy Haahr.
They were found in Ames, Iowa, as police tracked their movements
through Iowa using the cellular phone tracking system, Rock Falls
Police Chief Michael Kuelper said.
Haahr was last seen by her mother at her Rock Falls home Sunday
night. On Monday, her mother left for work and assumed her daughter
went to school, Kuelper said Thursday.
When the teen didn’t come home that night, her mother reported her
missing to police. Officers launched an investigation, Kuelper
said.
Police now suspect that Smith, the boyfriend of the mother, had
taken the teen and that they may have been trying to go to
California.
“She had told the classmates that she had always wanted to go to
California, and we believe Eric picked up on that and enticed her
to go with him,” Kuelper said.
At 8 a.m. Thursday, the celluar phone tracking system indicated the
pair was in the Des Moines area.
Des Moines police, the Iowa State Patrol and Ames police were
called and their assistance requested in finding Smith and Haahr.
As their movements were tracked, police units were just missing
them, Kuelper said.
At 2:50 p.m., Smith and Haahr were located in a convenience store
parking lot on the west side of Ames. The pair was in a Toyota
Camry that had been reported stolen from Dubuque.
Smith was taken to the county jail, while Haahr was placed into
protective custody.
Kuelper said Smith was released from the Illinois Department of
Corrections last year after serving 12 years for a stolen vehicle
conviction out of Cook County.

Joy Haahr Abduction
This man Eric L Smith is o how do I put this stuck on stupid.I am ashamed to say that he is my brother inlaw. After hearing him state that he was in love with Joy Haahr I reported this affiar to DCFS my wife`s other brother reported this to the rock falls ill police department nothing was done.Nothing untill he took her from school ran away with her and my guess was they took off together to elope and get married since there is a rumor around the school that Joy Haahr is 3 and a half months pregnant by Eric L Smith.I truly beleive Eric needs pleany of theapy and a good but kicking. What was dude thinking to even look at a child in any kind of sexual way and yes he did look at Joy Haahr in a sexual way and Joy Haahr`s mother knew of this affair and done nothing about this "true love thing" as Eric put it.My wife tends to have a visit with Eric L Smith and keep the public aware of Eric`s comments she wants to know why the man who she grew up with could do something like this and how he could fall in love with a child.Antoinette my wife did mention they were abused as children by their grandfather James and sexually abused by Antoinette`s natual father David Ramirez and forced to perform in child pornography as children. This however is no excuse for what Eric has done and he will have to live with all the wrong he has put on our family Thank You All Mikel Wise

Re: JOY HAAHR - 13 yo - Rock Falls IL
A young girl, missing for more than
three days, is back in her mother's arms. Thirteen–year–old Rock Falls
teen Joy Haahr is found alive. Police she turned up in a stolen car in
Ames, Iowa on Thursday, and her mother's boyfriend is to blame.
"We believe that Eric has befriended Joy the past couple weeks and
enticed her to go with him," says Rock Falls Chief of Police Michael
Kuelper. Officers say Joy left with Eric Sterson on Sunday, and her
mother found out they skipped town when the teen did not come home from
school a day later.
Police say emails and texts on the girl's phone are what led them to
point fingers at Sterson. "It appears there was some not sexual
content, but some emotional, love type content," says Chief Kuelper,
"Where he has expressed his love for her." Police interviewed
classmates, tracked Sterson's cell phone, and contacted state and
federal police, but it took several days to find Joy.
"For something this magnitude to happen it really frightened me for
her safety," says Michael Hubbard. Hubbard says he first met Joy and
her mother at church. He was devastated thinking what could have
happened to her. "She is a very sweet girl," he says, "I would see her
mother and her at the Parkway Restaurant, and the little girl would
always come and give me a hug."
But now, family and friends are breathing easy. The teen was found
late Thursday afternoon, after police were able to track Sterson's cell
phone to Ames. "I feel this is just one of those situations," says
Chief Kuelper, "Where she's very impressionable and made a wrong
decision and hopefully we can correct that."
Sterson is charged with theft of a vehicle in Iowa, and police say he will face additional charges in Illinois.
