CHRISTIAN ENRIQUE TERAN - 18 Months (2010) - Cactus/Moore County TX
Authorities confirmed
Monday that a Cactus woman has been arrested and charged with injury to
a child after the death of her 18-month-old son.Since mid-September, three children - two were newborns and one was the
18-month-old - have died in separate episodes in three Panhandle
counties.In the Cactus case, Moore County authorities expect to file
capital murder charges against the woman suspected of inflicting fatal
injuries on her son last week, Texas Rangers said Monday.
Department of Public Safety troopers arrested Rosalinda Gracia, 21, on
Friday morning at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo on a single
charge of injury to a child. Her son, Christian Enrique Teran had died
earlier Friday at the hospital.Rangers said Monday they learned during their investigation that Gracia
allegedly caused the injuries to her son after becoming frustrated with
him.
LifeStar took the child - he had traumatic head injuries - to Northwest from Cactus late Thursday, DPS said.
An autopsy was being conducted Monday in Lubbock. Rangers are continuing their investigation.
Gracia remained in the Moore County jail without bond Monday.
David M. Green, 69th District attorney, was out of his office Monday afternoon and unavailable for comment.

Update 11:38 a.m. - Authorities said today they expect to file capital murder charges against a woman they suspect of inflicting fatal injuries on her 18-month-old son last week.
The child, Christian Enrique Teran of Cactus, died Friday at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo. An autopsy is being conducted today to determine the exact cause of death, said Trooper Gabriel Medrano, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety.
Rosalinda Gracia, 21, of Cactus, was arrested by DPS troopers at the hospital Friday morning on a charge of injury to a child and a parole violation.
She remains in the Moore County jail today and is being held without bond, Moore County Sheriff Bo DeArmond said.
Medrano said investigators determined the injuries were sustained when Gracia allegedly became frustrated with her son.
Texas Rangers are continuing the investigation.

Update 9:39 a.m. - The mother of an 18-month-old boy who died Friday has been arrested and jailed on a charge of injury to a child.
Rosalinda Gracia, 21, of Cactus remains in the Moore County jail this morning after being arrested Friday. She is also being held on a parole violation. Her bond was denied, Moore County Sheriff Bo DeArmond said.
An autopsy on the childs body is scheduled for today. DeArmond did not know the childs name.
Theres some investigation going on. We assisted the (Texas) Rangers and city of Cactus, DeArmond said.

Earlier Report: Texas Rangers are investigating the suspicious death of an 18-month-old child from Cactus who died in an Amarillo hospital.
Eloy Ortiz, Cactus police chief, directed questions to the Rangers, who are handling the investigation.
An arrest has been made in the case, but Ortiz declined to name the suspect.
No other information was immediately available this morning.

Cactus, Texas - A Cactus woman is now facing capital murder charges for killing her 18-month-old son.
21-year-old Rosalinda Gracia is currently behind bars in Moore County on a $2 million bond.
Moore County District Attorney David Green tells us he has not yet decided if he is going to seek the death penalty in this case.
Gracia's son died back in mid-January

Womans pleads guilty in child’s death

A Cactus woman admits to causing the death of her child. Rosalinda Gracia, 22, Wednesday pleaded guilty to injury to a child in connection with the 2010 death of her 18-month old son Christian Enrique Teran. Prosecutors say Gracia had become frustrated with the child and caused a traumatic head injury. He died at an Amarillo hospital. Gracia was sentenced to 20-years in prison and fined $1,500.
