"Toddler" John DAVIS - 2 yo - Mesa AZ

MESA, Ariz. -- A 2-year-old boy was found
locked in a closet in a Mesa apartment Monday night, according to
Maricopa County Constable Fred Arnett.His mother, Corrina May Davis, 21, is charged with two counts of child abuse.Arnett said he discovered the boy while serving an eviction notice at Del Coronado Apartments on South Longmore Street."I
found the child laying there, basically in the fetal position," Arnett
said. "It appeared that this (the closet) was this child's actual
living quarters.""The problem that I had was there was no
visible water of any kind, there was no food. There was nothing this
child could do to even sustain life," he said.Court documents say the child appeared to have suffered physical and sexual abuse.The
probable cause statement says the boy had "bruising of different colors
on both sides of his face, a chipped tooth, a cut and a bruised lip,
bruising to his ears, bruising to his hip" and blood coming from his
genitals.Arnett said he was most disturbed by the child's response to him."Any
2- or 3-year-old at least cries," said the father of two young girls.
"This child wouldn't even cry. This child wouldn't laugh or smile to
anything we would do. In any of our attempts to get a reaction out of
this child, there was nothing.""He was so floppy and lifeless. It's like he had given up. There was no fight in this child," said Arnett.In court records, Davis admitted to locking her son in the closet and leaving him alone while she went to work.Davis denied abusing her son.She told police he is "clumsy" and "walks into walls."The boy is in CPS custody.Arnett said he is grateful he discovered the child when he did."I can at least sleep better at night knowing he has to be in a better condition than he was last night," he said.

MESA, Ariz. -- A Mesa woman has been arrested
after allegedly locking her 2-year-old son in the closet of her
apartment and then leaving for work, law enforcement authorities said.Mesa police said Corinna May Davis, 21, was booked into jail Monday on two counts of child abuse.


They
said a court official was serving an eviction notice at the apartment
complex about 5 p.m. Monday and found the boy sleeping on a mattress in
a closet. A chair was against the bedroom door to prevent it from being
opened from the inside, police said.Officers said the boy had bruises on his face, ears and hip and also had a chipped tooth.They
said Davis admitted leaving her son in a closet without adult
supervision and going to work at 4:30 p.m., but claimed her boyfriend
was coming home in 20 minutes.She also admitted to spanking the boy.No bond was set but she was freed on released supervision and is on an electronic monitoring system.

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office today announced charges against the
Mesa mom who left her 2-year-old son locked in a closet while she went to work.

Corrina Davis, 21, faces two counts of felony child abuse after her son was
found in the closet by a county constable, who entered her apartment to
evict her.

A probable-cause statement filed when Davis was
arrested says, when the boy was found, he was covered in bruises on his
face, ears, and hip and that he also had a chipped tooth.

Davis may also have some explaining to do over an ad she posted on the backpage.com
Web site, where she bills herself as an escort named "Barbie."

More troubling than the naked pictures of herself that she includes in
the ad is the fact that she was apparently trying to conduct some of
her escorting business from her home, where she allegedly kept the
2-year-old living the closet. In her ad, she offers a reduced rate of
200 "roses" for an "incall."

Davis' Myspace page may spell even more trouble for the young mother, who used
the social-networking site to post pictures of herself doing bong hits.

Deputy County Attorney Rebekah Prichard will be prosecuting the case, and as
you may have expected, County Attorney Andrew Thomas wasn't gonna let a
case like this slip past him without offering his prepared two-cents:

"We appreciate the quick thinking of a local constable and Mesa Police in
rescuing this child. Sadly, we see far too many cases in which young
children are left home alone, or worse. The dedicated prosecutors in
our Family Violence Bureau are there to make certain that crimes such
as these have consequences for the defendants."

I'm with you Admin. I too am sincere in my offer to raise a child if
there's a mother out there who can't cope and sincerely wants the best
for the child. Unfortunately, IMO most of these 'mothers' got pregnant
on purpose without being in a stable relationship, let alone married or
had the fundamental basics such as a steady income and place to live.
They are often not even capable of looking after themselves
independently let alone provide a safe and secure environment for a
child. They have no ambition in life and get pregnant with about as
much forethought as they put into deciding what movie they'll rent for
the night. The child is born with a purpose to suit the 'mothers'
needs, be that trying to make a boyfriend commit to them or fill their
empty life or simply because they're too lazy to get a job. Being a
mother means putting your child's needs first and yourself second. Many
of these 'mothers' have proven that the last thing they are thinking
about is the child simply by getting pregnant knowing that the child
won't have a father and knowing that they cannot adequately provide for
them. They want to have a baby but they want to live their lives as if
they were single and have no responsibilities. I'm sick of these
selfish stupid young girls. They're lousy mothers and chances are at
least one of their succession of useless boyfriends will abuse the
child or worse. These girls aren't getting pregnant by accident. They
could take birth control if they want to sleep around or make the idiot
wear a condom. It's that simple.
And if any 'Grandparents' to be are
reading this, stop treating the news of your irresponsible teenagers
pregnancy as if it was the greatest thing that's ever happened. It's a
FF disaster and not about how much fun it would be for you to be a
Grandparent. You might think it would be great to be a grandparent but
is it the right time for your child to be a parent? What everybody
thinks would be fun for you is not what's best for the baby. So come
on, wannabe young mothers, you've had a momentary lapse of reason and
had unprotected sex and found yourself pregnant and let's pretend it
really was an accident. If you really cared about the baby you would
give it up for adoption so the child has a mother and a father, a
steady home and is safe and secure, loved by parents who really want to
be parents and have the means to provide for the child and they can
grow up to be the best person he or she can be.
