FAITH CAROLYN MANUEL - 17 yo - Walnut Cove (NE of Winston-Salem) NC
Family and friends of Faith Carolyn Manuel are desperate right now to
hear something from her. The 17-year-old girl appears to have run away
from her home at 1095 Hugo Lane in Walnut Cove on Monday, June 28. She
was last seen there around 10 p.m. that night.
Family members say that Manuel took along her orange cat in a blue
carrier, a fact which may make her easier to spot than other runaways.
She also took her social security card. When last seen, Manuel was
wearing a tank top of unspecified color, jeans and black and white
shoes. She is a white female, about 5’6” tall and weighing approximately
160 pounds. Her hair is long and brown, her eyes hazel.Manuel is
thought to have run off either with or to meet a man she met on the
Internet. The man in question is William David Jones. He is described as
about six feet tall with light brown hair in a buzz cut and light blue
eyes.Jones may be driving a 1992 Chevy S10 with black and gray
primer and a Texas license plate. The tag reads AG72519. It is possible
that he and Manuel are headed to Texas. The family has entered
Manuel with NCIC--the National Crime Information Center. This is the
central database in the United States for tracking crime-related
information.Anyone with information on this case is asked to call
the Stokes County Sheriff’s Department at 336-593-8787, Crimestoppers
at 800-672-2851 or Detective Jason Needham at 336-593-2473.

STOKES COUNTY, N.C. -- It's been more than six months since Linda Cayton last saw her 17-year-old daughter, Faith Manuel.

Manuel, an honor roll student and rising senior at South Stokes High School, disappeared in the middle of the night last June.New information came to light in the case yesterday, as officials in Louisiana pursued a new clue.Officials said Manuel left with a man who duped her into believing he was someone he wasn't.That man, William David Jones, of Texas, had been chatting with Manuel online and through text messages.
Capt. Jeff Lemons, who's been investigating the case, said
Thursday that officers discovered some 1,000 text messages that had been
exchanged between the two before she disappeared.Lemons said
deputies have also uncovered several lies Jones told the girl. Among
those, Lemons said Jones claimed to be much younger than he actually is
-- investigators said they think he's between 27 and 34 years old.Lemons
said Jones also told Manuel he was previously in the military and that
his mother had died -- both lies, according to Lemons. In fact,
Lemons said authorities in Louisiana on Wednesday found and interviewed
Jones' mother, who claimed she hadn't seen or heard from her son in at
least five years. Now Lemons said solving the case is a matter of
publicity. He's called the FBI, asking for assistance, and is waiting
to find out if federal agents will help out.Cayton is doing her
part as well. She said she's called shows like Nancy Grace and Dr.
Phil, asking for any publicity that can be given to the case.Lemons
said normally runaways will contact someone at some point, especially
during the holidays. This year, the holidays came and went and Cayton
heard nothing from her daughter.During an interview with WXII
last year, Cayton described her daughter as quiet, leading an isolated
life. She called the girl's behavior before her disappearance
"uncharacteristic" and said she is convinced Jones brainwashed the girl. She never drank, she didn't date boys who swore and hated being around cigarette smoke, Cayton said.Jones,
who has outstanding arrest warrants in Texas and Louisiana, is thought
to be driving a 1992 Chevy S10 with license plate AG72519.Deputies in Stokes County said if caught, he faces a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at 800-672-2851.
