A child missing from Miller County was taken from his father's
house at gunpoint, according to the Miller County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities believe Devon D. Denman, 4, was taken by his mother, Elizabeth C.
Denman, and the child's stepfather, Mark A. Chochran.



Devon is described as a white male, 3 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 40 pounds. He
has brown hair, hazel eyes and a fair complexion. Authorities believe
he was last wearing a red and black shirt and camouflage sweatpants.

Elizabeth Denman, 41, is described as a white female who is 5 feet 2 inches tall
and weighs 140 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes and a fair
complexion. She was last seen wearing a black dress and has a silver lip
ring. It is also reported that she has multiple tattoos.

Cochran, 40, is described as a white male who is 5 feet 11 inches tall and
weighs 260 pounds. He has brown hair, hazel eyes and was last wearing a
gray muscle shirt. He has a goatee and tattoos on his arms.

The Miller County Sheriff's Department said a man contacted them early
Saturday morning to say that he had been held hostage and that his
juvenile son had been taken along with other items from the home.

The incident happened at 1:15 a.m. Saturday in Lake Ozark.

The pair may still be armed and is reported to be driving a
silver 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier. They were last seen in Osage Beach.
Authorities do not know what direction the vehicle was traveling, but
believed they were headed toward either Reeds Springs or Fulton.

Anyone who sees the child or the suspects should contact 911 or the Miller
County Sheriff's Department at 573-369-2341.

Gallup, NM (KSDK) -- New Mexico authorities are
searching for a mother and her new boyfriend who are accused of
kidnapping her son, Devon Denman, from Miller County, Missouri, and
firing shots at police while the missing boy was inside a stolen
vehicle.

Police are searching for convicted felon Elizabeth Denman, Devon
Denman's mother, and Mark A. Cochran, a registered sex offender.

New Mexico State Police Lt. Eric Garcia said a trooper tried to stop a
vehicle that had a burned out headlight around 12:15 a.m. Mountain Time
outside Gallop, in western New Mexico. The trooper determined the car
was stolen from Missouri and tried to question the driver and the
passenger, but they drove off. Speeds during the chase exceeded 100
miles-per-hour. The suspects' vehicle ran over stop sticks and the tires
blew out. The car eventually stopped and the suspects' fired shots at
New Mexico State Police officers. No one was injured in the shooting.

Lt. Garcia said Elizabeth Denman and Mark Cochran ran away. Officers
checked the vehicle and found the five-year-old boy in the backseat. He
was not hurt and was taken into protective custody by the New Mexico
State Police.

Investigators are searching a 200 square-mile area by air and on the
ground for Elizabeth Denman and Mark Cochran.

Detectives and a member of the family are expected to be flying out to
New Mexico later this morning to get Devon Denman and return him to
Missouri.

Authorities issued an endangered person advisory after Devon Denman was
taken from his father at gunpoint at his home in Lake Ozark, Missouri on
Saturday.

Devon Denman's father was awarded custody last week. The family of
Elizabeth Denman thinks it was the trigger.

Elizabeth C. Denman is a white woman who is 41 years old. She is 5' 1"
and weighs 170 pounds. She has brown hair and eyes with a fair
complexion. She was wearing a black dress and a silver lip ring.

Mark A. Cochran is a white man and is 40 years old. He is 5' 11" and
weighs 280 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. He was wearing a
grey muscle shirt and has a goatee and tattoos on his arms.

New Mexico police found an abducted 5-year-old Missouri boy safe
early Monday after officers were fired on during a highway chase that at
times exceeded 100 mph on Interstate 40.

State police Lt. Eric Garcia identified the boy as 5-year-old Devon Denman. Missouri
authorities had been looking for him since Saturday, when his father
reported the child’s mother took the boy at gunpoint.

Devon’s father told authorities he and Devon were held at their home in Lake
Ozark before the boy’s mother and her boyfriend left with the child. The
father was awarded custody of the boy last week.

Garcia says law enforcement officers on foot, helped by a state police aircraft, are
combing the area near Prewitt for 41-year-old Elizabeth Denman and her
boyfriend, 40-year-old Mark Cochran.

Garcia says they fled when state police stopped their car using a spike belt to flatten the tires.

State police say the chase began in Gallup, about 140 miles east of Albuquerque.

A state police officer patrolling in Gallup stopped a
car for having a broken headlight just before midnight Sunday, then
discovered from a license check that the vehicle had been reported
stolen in Missouri, Garcia said.

When the officer ordered the driver and passenger out of the car, they drove off, headed east on
I-40, he said.

A state police officer and motor transportation officer were shot at when they followed, Garcia said.

A second state police officer put out the spike belt, and the driver and
passenger fled when the car was forced to a stop, Garcia said.

Officers then discovered the child in the back seat of the car.

New Mexico state police, FBI agents and other
officers continue searching the rugged high desert of northwestern New
Mexico on Tuesday for couple sought in the abduction of a 5-year-old
Missouri boy.

Denman is the mother of Devon Denman, who was
found safe Monday after officers used a spikebelt to stop a car after a

Garcia says searchers late Monday found
Cochran's shirt, and speculate he took it off to use his T-shirt to wrap
Denman's feet. She was barefoot when they ran.
