A Denver jury on Tuesday found a man guilty in the beating death of his 3-week-old son last December.Travis Anderson, 27, was found guilty of child abuse resulting in death and manslaughter, both felonies, said Lynn Kimbrough, spokeswoman for the Denver district attorney.Anderson faces up to 48 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 13, 2011.



The charges alleged that Anderson brutally beat his infant son, Sean Anderson, in December 2009, Kimbrough said.The baby was taken to the Children's Hospital in Aurora with severe injuries on Dec. 15. Doctors, suspecting abuse, called police who arrested the parents the same day, she said. Police said the infant's injuries were "were consistent with physical abuse."The infant died four days after his parents' arrest, police said.The child’s mother, Crystal Eccleston, 26, was accused of contributing to the baby’s death by failing to seek care for the injured child, Kimbrough said. Eccleston pleaded guilty earlier this year to child abuse resulting in death and is serving a 14-year state prison term.

DENVER -- A Denver man convicted
of beating his three-week-old son to death was sentenced to 40 years in prison Friday.

Travis Anderson, 27, was found guilty last November of child abuse resulting in death and manslaughter for the
December 2009 death of his son, Sean Anderson.

Doctors say the infant sustained injuries including two fractures on his skull, bruises
on his scalp, a possible burn on his face and a possible burn on his foot.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Bonnie Benedetti argued for
the maximum sentence of 48 years, citing “not only the brutal injuries
inflicted on the baby but also the lengthy delay in seeking medical
attention,” the DA’s office said.

The baby’s mother, Crystal Eccleston, is serving a 14-year sentence for child abuse resulting in
death after she failed to seek care for the baby after learning of his
injuries.
