An amber alert was issued Thursday morning involving a Port Orange mother and her two young children.

Katie Thompson, 20, and her two children, 5-year-old Anthony Dodd and
4-month-old Clairra Koontz, were last seen Tuesday night by Katie's
mother. According to investigators, Katie Thompson allegedly recently
found out she's suffering from a serious health condition.Investigators said Katie Thompson made statements to her mother that, "Maybe I'll get a motel room and kill myself and my kids."Investigators said Katie Thompson also has a history of narcotics use.Katie
Thompson is believed to be driving her 2002 black Dodge Durango with
Florida tag AMKF99. The vehicle has a broken driver's side rear window
and a front, tubular grill guard.Anyone with information on Katie Thompson's whereabouts, or her children, should contact Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.

The State of Florida canceled the Amber Alert Thursday afternoon (12-16) after the children and their mother were found safe in DeLand. No further information is available at this time.

A Port Orange woman says is blaming her own mother for an Amber Alert that lasted for hours on Thursday. Authorities spent much of the day looking for Katie Thompson and her 4-month-old daughter and 5-year-old son. Thompson
called police herself after receiving a voice mail from police. She was
staying with the father of her son at an apartment in DeLand and had
been there since Tuesday. According to investigators, Thompson
allegedly told her mother she was thinking about killing her two
children and committing suicide. Not true, Thompson told Orlando station WFTV. "If
my mom is watching this, how dare you humiliate me in front of
everybody who's probably going to be watching this. I just can't believe
she did this," Thompson said. Asked if she had actually said she
planned to harm herself and her children, "No, I was not even aware of
anything. My mom, she was not even home the night I left," Thompson told
WFTV. Thompson claims her mother is controlling and didn't like that she had left the house. For now, there are no charges against Thompson or her mother. The Florida department of Children and Families is investigating.
