Anyone with a half a cerebellum can figure out that the only thing we would be looking for here is a skeleton and some tissue.
Who wants to go look for that? The search for a live Hailey, HaLeigh, Adji, Brittanee, Kara, Kayla, Kyron, Lindsey and so many more has long time passed.

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Billie Dunn, the mother of missing teenager Hailey Dunn, was sentenced Wednesday to one year probation, and she has moved – about 250 miles away from Colorado City.

Billie Dunn appeared in a Mitchell County courtroom and was sentenced to a year’s probation stemming from her arrest on March 17.

Billie Dunn pleaded no contest Wednesday to a charge of making a false report to authorities and was initially sentenced to 90 days in jail. However, the sentence was probated to one year as part of a plea agreement.

Other charges against her – lying to police, hindering an investigation and drug-related charges – were dropped as part of the agreement.

Billie Dunn was arrested and charged on March 17 after she lied to authorities concerning the whereabouts of Shawn Adkins – her former live-in boyfriend who remains the only named suspect in the disappearance of her daughter, Hailey Dunn.

Adkins, on March 17, was inside Billie Dunn’s home – when she lied to officers at her door who were seeking to issue a search warrant to Adkins.

On Wednesday, KTXS News was in Colorado City and discovered that Billie Dunn’s home in Colorado City is now padlocked.

Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs confirmed that Billie Dunn has moved to Travis County in the Austin area. Court officials said her probation is to be served in Travis County, where she now lives.

Hailey Dunn disappeared from her family’s home on Dec. 27, and Adkins was the last person who claimed to have seen her that day.

Adkins said he returned to the Billie Dunn home in Colorado City and that Hailey said she was going to her father’s house nearby and then to a friend’s house to stay the night.

Hailey Dunn, a 13-year-old eighth-grader at Colorado Middle School, never arrived at either place. The friend later told authorities that there had been no plans for Hailey to come over that night.

The next day, Dec. 28, Billie Dunn reported her daughter missing.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, joined forces in the widespread search for Hailey.

The case also received widespread media attention, including national exposure through several episodes on the ‘Nancy Grace’ cable television show.

Over the ensuing weeks and months, hundreds of people turned out to search for Hailey, including national search organizations.

On March 30, authorities admitted that they believe that Hailey Dunn is dead and that they were focusing their efforts on finding her remains.

Back in early January, Adkins and Billie Dunn both failed polygraph tests administered by law enforcement officers seeking information about Hailey’s disappearance.

Since then, according to law enforcement affidavits, authorities have found thousands of pornographic images, including some child pornography, on devices used by Adkins.

No arrests have been made concerning those findings.

IMO, she has known this since day one.

I think she blamed poor Hailey for her boyfriend being a pedophile sexual predator.

Well, I agree with her, Hailey will not be coming home. Someday someone will accidentally find her remains. How many years, decades from now will that be?

I hope when it happens science has developed to such a degree that it becomes an open and shut case.

Friends, family, and supporters gathered Saturday evening to pray for a safe return of missing West Texas teenager Hailey Dunn.

A prayer vigil was held at Ruddick Park in Colorado City.

Among those who attended was Hailey’s mother, Billie Dunn, who just recently moved to Central Texas.

It’s been six months since Hailey was last seen in Colorado City.

Shawn Adkins, the only named suspect so far in the disappearance of
Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, has moved away from the area, according
to his attorney.

In an email to the Reporter-News, attorney C. Barrett Thomas confirmed that Adkins has moved away from Colorado City.

"Mr. Adkins has left the immediate area due to his inability to find
work in Colorado City. He is now working full time. Mr. Adkins remains
accessible to investigators through my office," Thomas said in the
email.

Thomas added that he had personally assured Ann Reed, the district
attorney for the 32nd District, that Thomas could reach Adkins should
investigators into Hailey Dunn's disappearance require any information
from his client. He also said his office would coordinate Adkins' return
to Colorado City should the need arise.

Thomas did not indicate where his client had moved to in the email.

Today marks six months since Hailey Dunn was reported missing by her mother, Billie Dunn.

At a recent prayer vigil held in Colorado City, Billie Dunn told the
media that she had recently moved to Travis County to escape some of
what she called the hatred and suspicion directed toward herself and her
family after Hailey Dunn's disappearance.

Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs confirmed that Billie Dunn —
who pleaded no contest earlier this month to a charge of lying to police
— was being allowed to serve her year of probation in Travis County.

Wednesday will be seven months since Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn vanished.

Investigators say they are still continuing to follow leads, but some are giving up hope she will be found alive.

"She's all I think about - I don't think of
anyone else. Thinking that I may never see her again," Connie Jones,
Hailey's Grandmother, said.

For the past seven months, Jones says she wakes up every morning terrified and sad.

"Not knowing if she's alright, if she's hurting, if she's hungry, if she's cool," Jones said. "If she's alive."

Jones says it's hard to face the possibility
that Hailey could be dead. However, she says it's harder simply not
knowing anything at all.

"Imagine what hell is like - just imagine someone in your family missing and not knowing where she's at," Jones said.

In the past month, search teams have called
off their efforts. Not enough volunteers were showing up, money was
running out, and the heat was making it difficult.

"We haven't forgotten about Hailey. We are going to continue to work the case," Colorado City Manager Pete Kampfer said.

Kampfer says several different law enforcement agencies are working to find Hailey.

"As a basis of what's going on, there are leads that are always being developed," Kampfer said.

Meantime, Connie says she hasn't given up
hope of finding Hailey. However, she worries she won't be found alive.
When asked if she believed Hailey was still alive, Connie answered: "No
ma'am. I don't."

Investigators say Hailey's mother's
boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, remains a person of interest in the case.
However, no charges have been filed.

COLORADO CITY —Balloons will be released tonight across the street
from the home where Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn lived before
being reported missing Dec. 28.


The organization Hope for Hailey organized the event, which also will include a prayer vigil.


On this date eight months ago, the teen reportedly was seen in the
community. Her mother, Billie Jean Dunn, reported her daughter missing
to law authorities the next day. Sunday would be the Colorado Middle
School student's 14th birthday.


Her mother's former live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, remains the only
named suspect in the case. Both Billie Jean Dunn and Adkins have moved
from Colorado City.


Despite involvement of the FBI, Texas Rangers and other law
enforcement organizations, as well as national publicity of Hailey's
disappearance, no further progress has been made in the case.


Members of Hope for Hailey, whose goal is to keep the missing teen's
case before the public, have invited attendees to each write a message
that will be attached to a balloon to be released.

An hour before Colorado City's football team took the field in Abilene, a
handful of people met to remember the town's most recognized cheerleader.
Across the street from her house, hundreds of stuffed animals on display
showed just how long Hailey Dunn has been gone.
A faded plush Christmas tree, bears clutching red Valentine's Day
hearts and a doll with "Happy Easter" on its shirt chronicle the months
since her disappearance.
Courtney Gutierrez, a member of Hope for Hailey, was one of the organizers at Saturday's balloon release.
"It's a nice idea," Gutierrez said about the stuffed animals, "but it's depressing to see them weathered and matted."
The most recent addition — pink balloons wishing her a happy birthday.
Today, eight months after her Dec. 27 disappearance, Hailey turns 14.
On Saturday, a 13-year-old Hailey smiled from posters, T-shirts and
cards that ultimately were tied to balloons to drift over the city's water towers
They read "God bless Hailey," "Come home you're dearly missed" and "We will never give up!"
Standing near the pastor who led the group in prayer were Billie Jean Dunn and Shawn Adkins.
Dunn said she drove in last week for her son's 17th birthday. She stayed to attend the vigil for her daughter.
"It's still really, really tough," Dunn said. "I still wonder if I'll ever get to see her again."
She moved to the Austin area to distance herself from small-town
rumors and what she considers a lack of policing from local law
enforcement, she said. She had always intended to move back to South
Texas when her son David graduated high school.
"I don't like it here at all," Dunn said. "I don't trust law
enforcement. It's upsetting these are the people I have to rely on to find my daughter."
Dunn faced various charges since Hailey's disappearance, two of which
were later dropped. In March she was sentenced to a year of probation
for giving a false report a police officer — a charge that arose when
officers tried serving a search warrant for Shawn Adkins, whom Dunn said
wasn't at her house.
Adkins remains the only person of interest in Hailey's disappearance.
Gutierrez, who has known Dunn for years, said people should put aside
their personal feelings in this case and focus on the missing child.
"It doesn't matter what you think about Billie or Shawn," Gutierrez said.
"Everyone should stay interested for Hailey."
Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs said there are no pending
cases against Adkins or Dunn. He said a representative from the
sheriff's office, police department, district attorney, Texas Rangers
and FBI keep in touch at least once a week for updates on Hailey's case.
Three weeks ago, a law enforcement search was conducted in south east Scurry County.
Although Dunn doesn't search for Hailey, she said she keeps updated
on volunteers' progress. She said she doesn't know whether Hailey is
alive, but she doesn't want to see her dead.
"I don't want to find her in a field," she said.
Vigils and prayer services have been held almost monthly since
Hailey's disappearance. What began as weekend searches with hundreds of
volunteers has slowed to a monthly search with about 10 men and women.
Gutierrez said she understands the bleak outlook most take on
Hailey's case. She doesn't search either, but organizes events such as
Saturday's balloon release to keep the case alive in the public's eye.
"I still have hope she's still alive," Gutierrez said. "There's no
evidence that she's not alive. There's no need to point to the worst."
Members of Hailey Search, a separate group that conducts physical searches, attended the balloon release.
Shea Campbell, along with her mother and a friend, also attended the
release. Campbell, a 16-year-old cheerleader at Coahoma High School,
said she and her family have been searching, handing out ribbons and
making signs for Hailey since last December.
This year one of Coahoma's football games will be dedicated to the Colorado City cheerleader.
"I'm not used to having to deal with something like this happening to
a girl near my age," Campbell said. "It took me back. So I just wanted to help.

It has been exactly eight months since she was reported missing
by her mother, but still, there is no trace of Colorado City teen who
would have been 14 years old today.
On Dec. 28, Hailey Darlene Dunn, 13, was reported missing by her mother, Billie Jean Dunn. Billie
Jean’s live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, was the last person to see
Hailey alive. He has been named the prime suspect in the case, but, as
yet, no arrests have been made.
Eight months after the teen
vanished, there are still visible signs that of a concerned community.
But the billboards that show her smiling face and sparkling eyes are
fading. Across the street from where Hailey lived on Chestnut Street,
two fences covered with stuffed animals surround a bench dedicated to
Hailey’s memory and to commemorate the community’s hope for her return.
As the hot Texas sun parches the West Texas landscape, the searches for Hailey have wound down.
“We still have people calling us,” said Kristy Lloyd, a board member for
Hailey’s Search. “We have discontinued regular searches due to the heat.”
But searchers had planned to continue searching Saturday
and a prayer vigil and balloon release were scheduled for today to mark her 14th birthday.
Last week, would have been her first day in high school as she would have started her ninth grade year.
“We will never give up looking,” Lloyd said.

The case
Hailey was first listed as a runaway because at first, Colorado City officials
were taking a wait-and-see approach. But on Jan. 3, Colorado City
Police and the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office called in the FBI and
Texas Rangers and formed a task force. The 60-member team worked
relentlessly to come up with clues about Hailey’s disappearance.
And the agencies continue to work on the case, Sheriff Patrick Toombs insists.
“We get about one or two leads a week,” Toombs said. “And we follow up on every one of them.”
According to affidavits from Mitchell County Judge Ray Mayo’s office, Hailey was
last seen by Adkins on Dec. 27, when he said she went to spend the night
with a friend. But the friend’s family would tell police that Hailey
never showed up there that night, affidavits state.

Affidavits indicate investigators were looking at family members early in the case.
A few days after her disappearance, investigators interviewed Adkins,
and asked him who they should be looking at for answers as to her
whereabouts and he responded “both of us,” meaning himself and Hailey’s
mother Billie Jean, the affidavits state.

The affidavits also state Billie Jean and Adkins had a fascination for true crime, serial
killers and horror films, and, during a search of the home,
investigators found a box inside filled with hundreds of pages on
murders and true crime. Billie Jean told police that copying and
reading the stories was “a hobby.”

Both Adkins and Billie Jean failed polygraph tests, the affidavits stated. Adkins walked out of the
test after refusing to answer questions about where Hailey could be
found, the affidavits stated.

Clint Dunn, Hailey Dunn's father,
said Hailey's 16-year-old brother David Dunn told investigators he
returned home at about 4 p.m. on Dec. 27 and pounded on the door for
about five minutes. Later, Billie Dunn confirmed that David had "indeed
pounded on the door and nobody would let him in." Upon entering the
residence through the window, David Dunn observed Shawn Adkins "standing
in the hallway with a deer in the headlights look," according to the affidavits.

Investigators enlisted the help of cadaver dogs from
the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and searched landfills in
Abilene, Mitchell and Scurry counties. While the dogs hit on several
items, no real evidence was ever found, investigators said.

Since then, investigators have searched locations in Mitchell, Howard and
Scurry counties, concentrating many efforts in the small community of
Dunn, 10 miles north of Colorado City in southern Scurry County, where
they have searched this summer.

“We conducted three searches up there with the TDCJ officers on horseback and on foot and using a four
wheeler,” Toombs said, but nothing was found.

THE PLAYERS
Billie Jean and Adkins have denied involvement in Hailey’s disappearance from
the beginning. In early January, when investigators named Adkins as the
only suspect, he moved out of the Dunn home to his grandmother’s home,
located, oddly enough, in Dunn, Texas.

“I’m really scared,” Billie Jean said in an Abilene Reporter-News story about a month after
Hailey disappeared. “Anything could have happened.”

Adkins has made very few comments during the past eight months. He did appear on
“Nancy Grace” on HLN with Billie Jean. He later told the Associated
Press that his life had “flipped upside down,” since Hailey vanished.

Hailey’s father Clint Dunn, was excluded as a suspect early on. In the weeks and
months after his daughter’s disappearance, Clint Dunn would travel up
and down the Interstate, all the way to El Paso, passing out fliers and
looking for his daughter.

In February, Billie Jean’s mother, Connie Ostrander, was arrested for possession of drugs. Also in
February, Clint Dunn, turned himself in on a traffic warrant and spent
several days in jail. Toombs said he was just released from the Mitchell
County Jail after serving a 60-day sentence to “sit out some traffic
warrants and a possession of marijuana charge.”

Later, in March, Billie Jean was arrested for reportedly lying to police when they came
to her house looking for Adkins. She told him he was not there, and
investigators found he was.

Billie Jean, who Toombs said moved to
the Austin area to get away from the “negative comments,” did not
return calls for comment. Toombs said Adkins has also moved to central
Texas but could not say positively that the two are together.

Evidence confiscated
Toombs and other investigators are banking on evidence obtained from two computers and several electronic devices.

Investigators collected evidence from the Dunn home and from the homes of Shawn
Adkins mother in Big Spring and his grandmother in Dunn, Texas.

In February, results of a search warrant revealed that almost 109,000
images and videos depicting “deviant acts and pornography” were found on
a computer confiscated from Adkins mother’s home in Big Spring. Adkins
told police he went there the day Hailey went missing.

Likewise, a memory stick, taken from the Billie Jean’s bedroom drawer, contained an
additional 320 images and videos of a pornographic nature, according to
an affidavit from 32nd District Judge Glen Harrison, of Sweetwater.

Toombs said the computer and memory stick contained images of bestiality and child porn.

Then other digital devices were confiscated from Adkins’ grandmother’s home.
The FBI and a computer forensics expert in Garza County continue to
look for more evidence. So far, no charges have been filed and no
arrests have been made, regarding the pornographic items found on the computers.

“You only get one shot at some things and we are going
to make sure we get things right and make sure it is done right,” Toombs said.
Toombs said in the last several months, there have been bogus rumors popping up on Facebook, that Hailey has been found.
While the possibility still exists she will be found alive, Toombs said it is remote.
“We would like nothing more than to find her alive, that would be our greatest joy,” Toombs said.

It shows a less than happy Hailey with two very happy "persons of interest".
Note how "Mom" isn't even touching her daughter.
Who does that? Sits next to their child(ren) for a photo and doesn't embrace them?

Billie Jean Dunn and Shawn Adkins stood next to a pastor as he led a
prayer vigil for missing Hailey Dunn, who turned 14 on August 27.
Hailey was last seen on December 27, 2010.

During the vigil, a press conference was held and Billie, plus three
other women, one who is Carrie McGonigle, the mother of Amber Dubois,
and a woman named Holly, were criticizing the way the police are doing
the investigation.

"The only place they are looking at is in my back yard, and if they
can't find my child they need to get off their asses and find my baby,"
said Billie.

The group are asking for a new investigator, who will have an open
mind, as they believe that the police are not following a "Code of
Ethics" and should not be telling Billie that they know that Hailey is
dead.

Billie is living in Austin, after moving there from Colorado City to
get away from the rumors, and what she says is a lack of policing by the
police.

"I don't like it here at all. I don't trust law enforcement. It's
upsetting these are the people I have to rely on to find my daughter,"
Billie told the AP.
There are no pending charges against Adkins or Dunn and Mitchell
County Sheriff Patrick Toombs said that three weeks ago law enforcement
searched in south east Scurry county for Hailey.

The searches that once had hundreds of people searching has dwindled
down to less than a dozen, not including Billie, who says she doesn't
join the searches.

"I don't know if she is alive, but I don't want to see her dead. I don't want to find her in a field," said Billie.

COAHOMA- It was late December of last year
when Hailey Dunn suddenly went missing from her Colorado City home.
Search parties were called off this July, and the case has appeared to
have gone cold. However, a group of Coahoma teens are planning to change
that.

"I don't know how it happened. It doesn't
seem real," Cheerleader, Shea Campbell, said. For her, the
disappearance of Hailey is still very hard to deal with.

"We never thought anything like that would
happen. This is surreal. [It's strange] for something like this to
happen in such a small place and such a place where everybody knows
everybody. We thought we could trust everybody," Campbell said.

Fellow cheerleader Minnie Goodblanket feels
the same way. She and Hailey are only three years apart. "It's the same
small town as, like, Coahoma and you wouldn't ever think that something
would happen like that so it was eye opening for everybody," Goodblanket
said.

Neither one knew her personally, but that doesn't matter to them.

"It's something that's so big and [people
are] are already start to forget about it when it has not already been a
year yet," Campbell said.

It's been more than nine months since the
teen went missing and the girls fear the community has stopped caring.
They're bringing the hope back. The Coahoma High School cheerleaders are
dedicating Friday night's football game to Hailey.

Cheer Coach Traci Carr is proud of her girls.
"It's all about Hailey and hope for Hailey and the greater good. It's
not about them. They're not thinking about themselves. They're thinking
about what they can do for others and I think that's awesome," Carr
said.

The cheerleaders are also going to be selling
all sorts of orange and purple wrist bands, t-shirts and ribbons. Those
are Hailey's favorite colors.

Friday's game will break for a moment of
silence and they'll also release 14 balloons to celebrate her 14th
birthday, which recently passed.

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn has been added to the FBI's Missing Persons list.
According to the FBI website, Dunn's case is listed as a kidnapping
and a $15,000 reward is offered for any information leading to the
arrest of the person responsible for the crime.Hailey has been missing since she was last seen near her home in Colorado City on December 27th.Hailey's mother's live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, remains the only named suspect in the case.The teen's 14th birthday in August coincided with the 8th month mark of her disappearance.

Sheriff: Hailey Dunn Not Kidnapped

COLORADO CITY - The FBI may have made a mistake when it comes to missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn. Recently, the FBI put the 14-year-old on their website and listed her under kidnapped.

Newswest9 spoke to the Mitchell County Sheriff who told us it was a mistake. Hailey Dunn should not have been listed under kidnappings.

Instead she should've been under "missing person." The sheriff's office said the FBI will go back and fix the mistake.

The FBI is still offering a $15,000 reward for any tips that lead directly to the arrest of the person responsible for the crime. It's been more than 9 months and there is still no sign of the teen.

COLORADO CITY - It's been 11 months and there's still no sign of missing Colorado City cheerleader Hailey Dunn.

The teen went missing in December of 2010 and she was recently added to the FBI's missing persons list.

Since then, countless search teams have covered Mitchell County in hopes of finding any trace of Hailey.

Searchers have dwindled but they still have hope she'll be found safe one day.

Hailey would've celebrated her 14th birthday in the months that have passed.

Shawn Adkins, Hailey's mother's boyfriend, still remains a person of interest.

During a search of Hailey's home, investigators found documents about serial killers, along with child pornography.

Authorities also turned up child pornography at Adkins' mother's home.

Investigators say Hailey's case is still a top priority.

Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn, has since moved to Austin.

ABILENE, Texas -- An Abilene mother spent the day raising money for missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn.


The organizer of the event, Diana Bien said she's been touched by the teens story.

On Saturday, "Hope for Hailey" held a fundraiser at Kent Harley Davidson.

There was live music and barbeque plates were being sold.

The event raised awareness and collected funds to continue searching for Hailey Dunn.

"God just reached down and said hey get up and do something and help you know, and so with the help of these guys and the wonderful wonderful people here in Abilene we've been able to do something," Bien said.

Hailey disappeared back on December 27th of 2010.

The teens mother said Hailey was walking to a friend's house and never made it.


There are still no leads in the case.
