The search for a missing 13-year-old Colorado City girl is broadening to include empty buildings in Scurry and Mitchell counties plus additional landfills in the region.
Investigators
and volunteers are continuing to look for leads on the whereabouts of
Hailey Dunn after her mother reported her missing on December 28.
City manager Pete Kampfer in Colorado City declined to provide any specifics of the search effort including the locations of the additional landfills.
Kampfer said evidence was found recently at a landfill in Abilene.http://www.myfoxlubbock.com/mostpopular/story/Lubbock-Hailey-Dunn-Colorado-City-missing-teen/VuIDCa4cD0unTRTQSz3pcA.cspx

The mother of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn admits she's beginning to lose hope. This
comes after Billie Dunn was arrested Thursday and affidavits obtained
exclusively by KTXS on Friday show that authorities found more
pornography, including child porn, on devices used by Shawn Adkins,
Billie's former live-in boyfriend. After Billie Dunn was arrested and interrogated, she said she is now doubting Adkins' innocence.Billie
Dunn told KTXS, "There's so much that's happened, so much that I found
out about him. I think about 'Did he have time to hurt my daughter?' and
'Why would he hurt her?'"Since being released from jail Friday
on three misdemeanor charges, Billie Dunn said she has filed a
no-trespassing order against Adkins.Billie told KTXS, "I tried to
stand by him at first because I really felt like I knew him. I knew he
wouldn't hurt Hailey, and why would he. But after I talked to
investigators, it puts doubt in my mind."Clint Dunn, Hailey's father, said when he heard about Billie's arrest, he feared that it had to do with his missing daughter.Clint told KTXS, "Initially, I was concerned that, you know, she was being arrested for something with Hailey."The 13-year-old Hailey Dunn has been missing for nearly three months, making it hard for both her parents to stay positive.Billie
Dunn says it is getting harder. "I'm not as hopeful as I had been," she
said. "It really does get harder. I didn't think it could, but it
does."Clint Dunn says he will never stop looking for his little
girl but knows others may. "They can only search for so long, so I'm not
sure how much longer the search will go on," he said.Clint Dunn told KTXS that he now is working to get Hailey's face even farther out of Texas into the rest of the nation.

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Billie
Dunn, the mother of missing teenager Hailey Dunn, admitted Friday that
she lied to police on Thursday, prompting her arrest.Billie Dunn,
after spending about 19 hours in jail, admitted to several reporters
that she lied when law enforcement officers came to her house looking
for Shawn Adkins, her former live-in boyfriend. She was released
about 1:45 p.m. Friday, after her mother paid about $650, or 10 percent
of the bonds of $6,500 that were set by a judge earlier Friday.Billie
Dunn was charged with hindering prosecution, possession of a dangerous
drug and giving a false report to an officer. All three charges are
misdemeanors. She was arraigned Friday about 9:45 a.m. in the
Mitchell County Courthouse. Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs said
that Billie Dunn refused to accept a court-appointed attorney. The events that landed Billie Dunn in jail occurred Thursday evening at her home in Colorado City.Law
enforcement officers came to her home looking for Adkins after two
search warrants were issued Thursday, one of which was for the "body" of
Adkins, meaning he was to surrender fluids for a DNA sample.Dunn allegedly told the officers that Dunn wasn't there, although he was in fact in the house.Adkins is the only named suspect in the disappearance of Hailey Dunn, who has not been seen since Dec. 27.

Billie Dunn cared more about her boyfriend than her missing daughter. How disgraceful. Only now is she getting a protection order against him after she was arrested. She didn't need one of those. She could have just told him she didn't want to see him any more - something she hadn't done before. The PO is just for show to try to make it look like it wasn't her fault he was still coming round. Too little too late Billie. How many other lies has she told to protect her boyfriend???????????????????????

Monday, March 21 2011
Excerpt:
Just a few days after the mother of Hailey Dunn claimed to have cut off ties with her former boyfriend and the only named suspect in her daughter's disappearance, law enforcement says the pair met in Scurry County over the weekend.
Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs says his investigators have learned Billie Dunn and Shawn Adkins met up in Snyder on Saturday evening.
On Friday, Dunn revealed she filed a protective order that would keep Adkins off her property. Toombs confirmed the filing took place but says this hasn't kept the pair from meeting elsewhere.

Billie decides to keep her mouth shut
KTXS has confirmed that Billie Dunn, the mother of Hailey Dunn, has hired an attorney. John Young, an attorney out of Sweetwater, will now represent her.
Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs tell us that Dunn told him
she is no longer talking to either media, or law enforcement about
anything, including her daughter's case. Billie Dunn was arrested Thursday, for lying to police, hindering prosecution and drug charges. Toombs says her case will now be turned over to the county attorney.
Billie told KTXS Saturday, that she filed a no-trespassing suit
against Shawn Adkins, her former boyfriend, and the only named suspect
in Hailey Dunn's case. Toombs tell us, that one of his sources saw the two Saturday night meeting in Snyder. 13-year old Hailey Dunn was last seen December 27th.

The mother of missing teen Hailey
Dunn hired a lawyer Monday. Billie Dunn was arrested last week on three
charges including hindering prosecution after allegedly lying to police. Her
attorney, John Young, said he thinks Dunn should have sought legal
counsel a long time ago – not because he thinks she's been unfairly
represented but because he said she was greatly unprepared for all the
attention she's been getting."There were several times during the investigation that I wished she'd had a lawyer," Young said.Young
is able to speak on Dunn's behalf and, as the mother of missing teen
Hailey Dunn, there's a lot to be explained. For example, he said: Whose
idea was it to file the no trespassing order against the only suspect in
the case and Dunn's former live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins."There
was some discussion with law enforcement that being anyway associated
with this person was somehow going to taint her and somehow get her
charged with a crime," Young said. This may suggest why Mitchell
County Sheriff Partick Toombs announced that Adkins and Dunn were
spotted together over the weekend, he said. However, Young said
any further discussion about this or the three misdemeanor charges Dunn
faces is unrelated to the case of Dunn's missing daughter Hailey.Young
said he has yet to see the search warrant that investigators were
carrying out when looking for Adkins the night Dunn allegedly lied about
where he was."I wish she hadn't told police Mr. Adkins wasn't
there, but I wait anxiously for what incredible information comes from
that warrant," he said.KTXS has requested to see that warrant, but the request was denied by a judge in Midland.Young
said this wasn't the only instance of law enforcement having an unfair
advantage. He said officers intentionally arrested Dunn at night so she
was unable to bond out until the next day – then the questioned her from
8 p.m. to midnight."I think it was not a mistake ... that Ms.
Dunn was arrested after 8 when there was not a judge to magistrate her,"
he said. "She was unable to get a bond, so they were able to chat with
her for a while whether she wanted to or not."There was also a published report that Dunn was no longer speaking to the media. However,
Young corrected that statement by saying she will continue doing
interviews – but only if her legal counsel is also there.

Re: HAILEY DUNN - 13 yo (2010) - Colorado City (W of Abilene) TX
FORT HOOD, Texas—Three months ago Hailey Dunn vanished from Colorado
City, seemingly without a trace. Initially, volunteers poured into the
town to help search for the 13-year-old cheerleader, but as days turned
to weeks and then months, the number of volunteers dwindled.
When Misty Moody, who grew up in Colorado City and still has contacts in
the West Texas town, heard of the stalled search efforts, she knew she
and her husband, Sgt. Brian Moody, could help. The Moodys shared their
proposal to join in the search effort with Soldiers and spouses in the
4th Battalion, 5th Air Missile Defense Artillery Regiment, 69th Air
Defense Artillery Brigade, who responded with full support.
“My husband mentioned it to the guys here, and within two days, we had
28 people,” Misty said. The volunteers included Soldiers and spouses who
traveled to West Texas the first weekend in March to take part in a
search for the missing teen.
March 18 and 19, the group rejoined the search effort.
Misty said the terrain the group covered in both searches was difficult.
“It’s West Texas so it’s nothing but bushes and cactus,” she said.
“There are some old ravines, some dry ravines that we’re searching.”
In addition to the danger of snakes and the unpredictable Texas weather,
the group faced the difficult emotions that accompany a search for a missing child.
“I think it was a shocker for some of the soldiers last time … it was emotional,” Misty said.
Spc. Andres Lopez, Alpha Battery, 4-5 AMD, was one of the soldiers who took part in both searches.
“It was actually very emotional,” Lopez said. “I wish we could have
stayed longer, but, of course, we have to get back here to do what we
have to do.”
The skills and knowledge that soldiers brought to the search effort
impressed those who worked with them, according to 1st Sgt. Quinnus
Caldwell, Btry. A, 4-5 AMD.
He said after the group returned from the first trip, he received an
email from search organizers thanking 4-5 AMD volunteers for the quiet
professionalism they brought to the search for Hailey.
Caldwell said he thinks the civilian volunteers were impressed by the volunteers from Fort Hood.
“They know the job of a soldier and the sacrifice that we make,”
Caldwell said. “It just makes the civilian population want to come out
and help even more.”
He added that he was impressed by the volunteers who traveled to Colorado City.
“I think it’s phenomenal,” he said. “It’s been a total team effort all the way across.”
The dedication of the group also drew the attention of members of
Hailey’s family. Misty said the group received a phone call from
Hailey’s father, Clint Dunn, after the first search.
“He called and personally thanked us,” she said.
Each of the volunteers said they had their own reasons for joining in
the search. Sgt. Payce Peterson, Btry. A, 4-5 AMD and his wife, Cpl. Amy
Peterson, Btry. B, joined the second search March 18 and 19.
“It seemed like the right thing to do,” he said.
For the Moodys, the case hit close to home; not only because of Misty’s
ties to the area, but also because the couple has four children of their
own.
“If one of my children came up missing, I would want everyone helping me,” Misty said.
The volunteers with 4-5 AMD plan to continue making the 500-mile
roundtrip to help search for Hailey for as long as they can, or until
there is some sort of resolution in the case.
“It’s not just Hailey that needs help,” Misty said as she noted that hundreds of children around the U.S. disappear every month.
Anyone interested in volunteering or participating in the search for
Hailey can get more information from the search team coordinator, Bill
Markunas, at (325) 280-0429. Flyers drawing attention to Hailey’s case
can be found at the Laura Recovery Center website at www.lrcf.net/missing/1650/1650.html.

Missing Colorado City teen's uncle accuses mom's boyfriend; he denies allegations
Mar 28, 2011 9:00 AM
LUBBOCK, TX
(KCBD) - As the search for missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn
continues, her uncle has some harsh words for the former live-in boy of
Hailey's mom. Speaking on an Internet radio program last Wednesday,
Richy Cooper says, in his opinion, Shawn Adkins played a role in
Hailey's disappearance.
"God help you, man," Cooper said of Adkins. "The train is coming and you're standing on the tracks, buddy."
Adkins is described as a person of interest
by law enforcement in Hailey's disappearance. Hailey was reported
missing in the last week of December. Adkins has not been charged, but
Hailey's mom, Billie Jean Dunn, was arrested more than a week ago for
lying to officers about Adkins' whereabouts.
Law enforcement has said that officers found
evidence of child pornography on a computer owned by Adkins' mother.
Again, no charges have been filed, and Adkins denies that it's his.
Cooper says Hailey was scared of Adkins. "If
she were sitting with me right now she would probably say, 'Yeah, he
gives me the creeps.'"
When asked what happened to Hailey, Cooper
had trouble finding his words. He was able to finally say, "I think
Shawn [Adkins] did it." Cooper never said the words murdered or killed
but he says that he thinks Adkins, "Ended her."
"I pray that I'm wrong."
Adkins denied any involvement in Hailey's
disappearance when he was interviewed on the very same Internet radio
program "Bring Them Home Now" on March 4th.
Cooper defends Billie Jean to some extent saying, "She's never been the red-eyed demon that people think she is."
"She's never been, in my opinion, negligent
of her children." But Cooper's defense only goes so far. He said on
the Internet radio show that he thinks Billie knows more than she's
telling.
Why won't Billie come forward? "Fear," Cooper says. "I firmly believe she's afraid of him [Adkins]," Cooper says.
Cooper lives out-of-state. He last saw the
Dunn family during Christmas weekend in Colorado City just days before
Hailey was reported missing. Cooper is related by marriage to Hailey's
biological father.
"I mean, I'm hoping right now that my wife
breaks in and tells me that, excuse me, that Hailey is standing on the
door step," Cooper said as he was on the verge of crying.
Cooper said of Hailey's biological father
Clint Dunn, "He's become stronger than I could ever hope to become on my
best day. And this has got him on his knees."
Cooper says Clint is out doing all the things
you might expect a worried parent to do in such a circumstance. For
example, Clint has been traveling the state, handing out fliers of
Hailey's picture and he's been actively involved in search parties.
By contrast Cooper is perplexed by what he
sees as a lack of emotional response by Billie. Cooper says he's
learned from other family members that Billie put up new curtains and
painted Hailey's room after her disappearance.
"People close to me in this situation are just, I mean, they're pulling their hair out. I mean, what are you doing?"
Adkins is facing an even tougher question: "Do you know where Hailey is?"
"No, I don't," Adkins said on the Internet radio program.
When asked why he's been named a person of interest, Adkins responded, "Because, I'm the last one that seen her."
"She's not scared of me," Adkins said. "Me and Hailey were good friends."
"She knows I'm afraid of grasshoppers. She chases me around with grasshoppers. She just really has a good sense of humor."
Adkins' theory of Hailey's disappearance is
in sharp contrast to Cooper's. "I believe somebody abducted her. I
feel in my heart she might still be alive."
"As far as my mom's computer, I found out
there was child pornography and bestiality on there. It came to me as a
total shock. I couldn't believe it. I'm still having a hard time
believing it."

"I pray that I'm wrong."

Poster's Note: Despite the "belief" that she is deceased, as in all cases, we will keep this story in this room until such time as evidence determines that to be the case.
Officials close to the case now believe missing Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn is dead.City
Manager Pete Kampfer will confirm this revelation at a news conference
Wednesday at noon in Colorado City with new information in the Hailey
Dunn investigation.Hailey Dunn, a 13-year-old eighth-grader, has been missing since Dec. 27.Kampfer
has told KTXS News that officials have reasons to believe that Hailey
Dunn is deceased. He said they couldn't say what those reasons were
because this an on-going investigation. He also told KTXS
officials plan to announce at the news conference that stipulations for
the reward money have now changed, with emphasis on finding the
whereabouts of Hailey – as opposed to previous stipulations based on her
safe return or a successful prosecution."Previously the reward
reflected statements, aspects related to successful prosecution and or
returning Hailey in good order," Colorado City Manager Pete Kampfer
said. "We delineated that and said anything leading to her whereabouts."The
reward, currently at $15,000, will be for any information gained
anonymously, first- or second-hand, that leads to Hailey's whereabouts,
Kampfer said."It's time now to put this thing into context and
hopefully come up with some information as a result of changing the
reward," Kampfer said.As for community members of Colorado City,
while they're praying for the best-case scenario, hope is fading for
finding the 13-year-old alive."Most the community has been around
it and heard enough about it," Kampfer said. "They're fairly
well-educated to all the different aspects of it that, I like to say,
that we're cohesive. There is a certain settled idea and being mature
about what could have happened and what's actually happened. I don't
think anyone would be shocked."He said, "The mood right now is: 'Let's get this thing to a point of good prosecution and let's get it put to bed.'"Kampfer
also said, "While there are multiple persons of interest in this
criminal investigation, there still remains only one named suspect:
Shawn Adkins."If you have any information regarding the case, you can call 1 800-843-5678.

City Manager Pete Kampfer on Tuesday told KTXS News – specifically for
the first time – that law enforcement officials have reasons to believe
that missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn is deceased.Amid
questions and protests from relatives of the missing 13-year-old,
Kampfer clarified his statements Wednesday, saying his comments about
Hailey being deceased were not intended to be interpreted as
“conclusive.”He said his statement that officials “have reasons
to believe that Hailey is deceased” was meant to convey the same
approach law enforcement has had for more than two months: The case is
considered a criminal investigation – not a runaway teenager.Nevertheless,
the wording Kampfer used on Tuesday in statements to KTXS News was the
first on-the-record public statement specifically acknowledging that
officials believed Hailey was deceased. When asked by a KTXS reporter,
he twice repeated the statement that officials “have reasons to believe
that Hailey is deceased.”The reporting of this news Wednesday
morning was understandably disturbing to family members of Hailey Dunn,
who have been holding onto hope that Hailey might yet be found and
safely returned. The family members showed up to ask what new
information prompted the statements and to protest that they need to
cling to the hope that Hailey might be returned safely.Kampfer
acknowledged there was no specific breaking news Wednesday morning.
Kampfer said that his statement was not intended to be interpreted as an
absolute conclusion.Kampfer said he met with the family members
Wednesday to explain to them what law enforcement authorities believe to
be true concerning Hailey. However, he pointed out that nothing is
confirmed. He said he told the family members that Hailey could
have been kidnapped and could be held under duress – “but it’s not
likely,” he said. The intent of making his statement to KTXS
Tuesday and holding a news conference Wednesday was to draw attention to
the shift in the reward stipulations: The reward is now intended for
any information leading to the location of Hailey. Previously the
language stipulated the reward was intended for Hailey’s safe return or a
successful prosecution. With the change in wording, it means that
anyone with information about Hailey Dunn’s whereabouts could earn all
or some of the reward. After family members met with Kampfer, he
said they agreed to focus on raising more money for the reward – to make
it as enticing as possible for someone to come forward with
information. He said that, at this stage in the case, law
enforcement would like to hear any information – anything heard first-
or second-hand – of where Hailey Dunn might be.Anyone with information should call 1-800-843-5678.

Search Effort Dwindles After News That Hailey Dunn Could Be Dead
COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Searchers gathered to look for missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn for the first time since investigators publicly announced they have reason to believe she's dead.
Aside from the search party coordinators, only one other person showed up.
“Hailey Dunn is somewhere and until we bring her home this is not over," Patricia Trichel, search coordinator, said. “We had one searcher show up today. We need searchers really bad. We need people to come out and help us search."
Trichel said when she first heard the news that Hailey could no longer be living, she had to regroup, but now she is ready to help motivate people to continue searching.
“Hailey's not here. She hasn't been found. Please come out and help us. We need everybody we can to be here tomorrow. Let’s get out there. Let’s find what we can."
They plan to continue their search for Hailey Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Anyone who would like to volunteer to search is asked to meet at 153 Walnut Street, Colorado City, Texas.

snipped.....
Thousands of images of child pornography were discovered on a computer confiscated from Adkins' mother's home in Big Spring. Images of child pornography were found on a memory stick seized from the Dunn home.
Three weeks ago, investigators seized another computer from Adkins' grandmother's home in the community of Dunn in Scurry County, along with other electronic devices.
So far, the evidence from the most recent electronic seizures has not been received by investigators.
"We are still waiting on the evidence before presenting the case to a grand jury," Toombs said.
All of the evidence gathered is sent either to the Department of Public Safety Crime Lab or the FBI crime lab, Toombs said.
Last weekend volunteer searches were conducted in Snyder and Big Spring, but no new evidence turned up.

Clint Dunn, father of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, was
arrested this morning at the Mitchell County Courthouse for failing to
appear on two misdemeanor charges, Sheriff Patrick Toombs reported
Dunn, 33, arrived late for court, which started at 9 a.m. and was
arrested at 9:40 a.m. Toombs said. He is in custody at the Mitchell
County Jail charged with failure to appear on a possession of marijuana
charge and a charge of driving while license invalid. Dunn will be
magistrated this afternoon and bond is expected to be set at $2,500 for
each charge, Toombs said.
On February 15, Dunn turned himself in at the Scurry County Jail for a
county court commitment on a probation violation for possession of
marijuana, expired driver’s license and unsafe backing. He was released
after sitting out his fines.
Since his daughter’s disappearance, Dunn has been following up on
leads and reports of sightings of her continuing to hold out hope that
she will be found alive.
He has traveled to the Odessa/Midland area and as far as El Paso, handing out fliers. .
Shawn Adkins, the former boyfriend of Hailey Dunn’s mother, Billie Jean Dunn, is the only named suspect in the case.
According to PublicData.com, Clint Dunn has several offenses dating
back 17 years, including a burglary charge for which he was sentenced to
state jail, several charges of possession of marijuana, and several
charges of driving with a suspended license.http://www.reporternews.com/news/2011/apr/06/clint-dunn-arrested-colorado-city/

Movement in the Hailey Dunn Case?
After weeks of silence, there may be some movement in the Hailey Dunn case.
As expected by many, it appears that federal prosecutors may now have the child pornography evidence associated with the case of missing 13 year old, Hailey Dunn. This may have been the reason for the delay in arrests.
118th District Court Officials say it has not been turned over to their office.
“I'm not sure which agency recovered the alleged evidence, but I'm sure the computer has been handed over to federal or state law enforcement by now,” District Attorney Hardy Wilkerson said Tuesday. “However, until the evidence and a report is handed over to our office, there's nothing we can do to prosecute the alleged crime. It also depends whether or not the feds want it.”
This may be the good news many local citizens have been waiting to hear in this case, as it may lead either Shawn Adkins, or Billie Jean Dunn to seek a plea deal. It is unlikely that any prosecutorial agency would consider a plea bargain without the recovery of the child's remains.
Billie Jean Dunn, Hailey's mother, and Shawn Adkins remain the only two Persons of Interest in the criminal investigation into the 13 year old's disappearance.
Hailey Dunn was last seen by a non Person of Interest on December 26, 2010 at about 9PM. Both mother and live in boyfriend have failed polygraphs.

Billie Dunn May Sue 'Body Language Expert'
Tuesday, May 10 2011
The lawyer for Hailey Dunn's mother says his client may sue a so-called body language expert in Colorado for slander and libel.
The 13-year-old girl was last seen at her Colorado City home last December.
Peter Hyatt, who hosts an internet radio show, said this week: "I believe Billie Jean Dunn caught her daughter, Hailey, in a sexual act with Shawn Adkins and tempers exploded resulting in injury and eventual death to Hailey."
Adkins is Billie Dunn's former live-in boyfriend and a suspect in the case.
"He's absolutely horrible at what he does and he's no good at his job, because everything he's ever said has been a lie," Dunn said.
Dunn's lawyer, John Young, called Hyatt's words outlandish.
"(He said things) that only a fool would say, but certainly things that may, if I have my way, land this fellow in a court in Mitchell County, Texas," Young said.
A decision on whether or not to take Hyatt to court has not yet been made.
There have been few clues as to what happened to Hailey, and law enforcement has remained tight-lipped about the case.

Racy Cell Phone Pics of Hailey Dunn's Mom Leaked
Thursday, April 28 2011
Racy photos of Billie Dunn have been posted on several Facebook sites in the past month, amid rumors she'd sent them to a man in a text message.
Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs learned about the photos about two weeks ago. He called them examples of "unusual or strange behavior."
Law enforcement is not looking into the photos as part of the criminal investigation into the disappearance of Billie Dunn's 13 year old daughter, Hailey. Toombs says it's unclear when they were taken, but he says he's heard they may have been taken after Hailey disappeared in late December 2010.
Volunteer searchers say they're focused on finding Hailey, rather than the personal life of the girl's mother.
"We're just still trying to keep everything geared towards Hailey and bringing her home versus what the parents are doing," said searcher Kristy Lloyd.
Sheriff Toombs couldn't definitively say whether Billie Dunn is a person of interest in her daughter's disappearance.
"There [are] just some strange things that have gone on, so that's why she's not been ruled out, but she's not also being named a suspect in the case either," Toombs said.

Re: HAILEY DUNN - 13 yo (2010) - Colorado City (W of Abilene) TX
There have been weekly searches conducted for missing 13-year-old Hailey
Dunn since she first went missing just after Christmas last year. City
officials tell us even though there's not much new information being
released the criminal investigation is still very active.
Two officers have been assigned to handle only her case. It's being worked
by City Police and the Sheriff's office. But with just one named suspect
in the case and no arrests, is there any progress being made?
The Colorado City Manager tells me the case is strong. So far only Shawn
Adkins, Hailey's mother's boyfriend, is the only name of interest.
“Sometimes these cases will go on for months and all of a sudden
everything will hit," said Pete Kampfer, Colorado City Manager.
The investigation has been underway for 5 month's into what happened to
Hailey. City officials tell CBS 7 that they have not let up on the investigation.
"We've left an officer on it and we're gonna continue to leave them on it for the indefinite future," said Kampfer.
Kampfer says there's one missing link.
"You have to have a person or body, physical evidence that something
occurred, so we need Hailey and that's a big part of the case right now," said Kampfer.
That's what search parties are trying to lend a hand in.
"I wish that whoever took Hailey would just come forward and get it off
their chest. It is very hard to still have hope but what keeps driving
us is it could have been any one of our kids and she's still missing,"
said Kristy Lloyd, Search Coordinator.
Colorado City Police are just waiting for the final piece to the puzzle.
.
"We're waiting for more information related to Mr. Adkins and finding Hailey.
They want to build a better case to really make sure it's a slam dunk
for prosecution," said Kampfer.
A few months ago investigators say child pornography was found on a flash drive in
connection to Shawn Adkins. The City Manager says the investigation into
that case also continues, and will be presented to a grand jury once completed.
The search team continues to go out every Saturday in
hope of finding Hailey or information leading to her. The Colorado City
Police Department is still offering a $15,000 reward for information
leading to Hailey. You can call them at (325) 728-5294.

of Hailey's mother. He has since been named a person of interest in
Hailey's disappearance. A number of searches done by authorities and
volunteers has yet to lead to Hailey's whereabouts.
