In this article I’d like to focus on particular statements made by these three gentlemen concerning the possible detection of human decomposition smells, or the lack thereof.

We will begin by looking at Richard Creque’s interview with OCSO. Richard is described by others as the “human cadaver dog”. He had worked for the medical examiner’s office on removals of bodies involved in homicides and is very attuned to the smell of decomposition. He was a team leader for a TES search on Suburban “around the 5th or 6th” of September, 2008. He recalls there were about 15 searchers that day. He describes Suburban Drive has being “saturated”.

Richard believes it was the 6th of September when he was back in the area of Suburban Drive, and was walking west on Suburban away from the school, that he smelled decomposition about the time he reached “that little apex bend” in Suburban Drive. Richard’s statement that he detected something is backed up by another gentlemen present at the search that day by the name of Brett Reilly. Brett states Richard mentioned to him when he detected the smell that affected him.
