The Manatee County Sheriff's Office was investigating a case of possible child abuse after a 17-month-old child was treated at Manatee Memorial Hospital for second-degree burns to both inner thighs, according to the sheriff's office.Someone told medical officials that the child had been left in a soiled diaper for several days, but the injuries were not consistent with that account, according to the sheriff's office.Child Protective Services was contacted and an investigation is continuing. The child was released to a family member, according to a news release.
