Teen arrested for injuring infant
Nov 5, 2010
REFUGIO COUNTY - Sheriff's deputies arrested a teenager accused of breaking a 10-week-old baby's arm and causing a severe brain hemorrhage.
17-year-old Brandon Joseph Viau is charged with first degree felony injury to a child.
The Refugio County District Attorney says he intended to wait until the results of polygraph tests were in before issuing an arrest warrant for Viau.
However, the baby was so badly injured he required emergency surgery and the D.A. feels that warranted an immediate arrest.
Viau isn't the baby's father but he was the mother's boyfriend.
According to the arrest warrant, Viau admitted to police that he shook the baby boy and threw him down on a bed.
