KYRON HORMAN - 7 yo (2010) - Portland OR - Thread #2 - Page 15 Empty The Kyron Obsession - sound familiar?

Post by TomTerrific0420 Thu Aug 26, 2010 11:47 am

Holly Raymond has never met Kyron Horman. She doesn’t know his
family, nor does she have a child at Skyline Elementary. She’s never
even been to Oregon.
And yet, from across the country in Richmond, Va., the 28-year-old
mother of two feels like she has a personal stake in the fate of the
missing Portland boy. An admitted true crime fan and avid viewer of
“Nancy Grace,” Raymond first heard about Kyron from her sister on the
day he disappeared in June. But she didn’t develop a true attachment to
the story until she saw his picture.
“It really got to me because he looks like my little boy. He has the
same glasses and everything,” she says. “As it progressed, I felt there
was something I had to do.”

KYRON HORMAN - 7 yo (2010) - Portland OR - Thread #2 - Page 15 Terri-at-Hearing11

Portland, OR- In a voluntary appearance in court yesterday for matters relating to the pending divorce motion by estranged husband Kaine; Terri Horman showed her face for the first time since the week after her stepson, Kyron, vanished from Skyline School.
Although Kaine Horman opted to be represented by his counsel Laura Rackner and not appear personally to protect himself emotionally, according to Rackner, Terri Horman braved the fray.
Arriving with attorneys Peter Bunch and Stephen Houze, the trio was immediately met and escorted by MCSO deputies in “the box” formation to the 5th floor courtroom where local media scurried in from behind. Within 45 minutes, Judge Meisenheimer ruled in Kaine Horman’s favor and granted his request that the issues of the mortgage-sized retainer, allegedly furnished by Terri to Houze and other distribution and custody issues will be heard in a hearing on October 7, denying her request to have the issues bifurcated.
During the proceeding, Bunch argued that his Client cannot properly litigate the divorce and custody actions currently because she is.”..unable to proceed in the ordinary course to protect her rights as to discovery, property division, support and, particularly, custody and parenting time issues.”
In fact, for the first time publicly, we learn a very important detail about the criminal investigation into Kyron Horman’s disappearance.
According to her counsel, who would certainly be “in the know”, Terri Horman has NOT been named a suspect by MCSO in Kyron’s case, but she is painfully aware she is one.
Loosely translated, a defacto suspect is an unofficially declared suspect, but for all intents and purposes is definitely the target of the investigative crosshairs.
The Microsaccade Moment

Microsaccades are tiny involuntary movements of the eye generally caused by visual fixation. The result on visual perception can cause the beholder to question if they are “really seeing what they are seeing.”
I had a few of those yesterday while analyzing footage of the day’s events in conjunction with known facts of this case.
They Are:
The MCSO guard detail dispatched at the courthouse assigned to Terri and counsel et al for a family court appearance. I have spoken with a few local family lawyers who do not wish to be identified, with a combined 26 years of practice. None have ever seen this practice in a similar matter in Multnomah County. Specifically, the deputies went inside the actual hearing and waited to escort the trio out the back.
During the hearing, there was not a syllable mentioned about the driving force behind the request for expedition of the case in the first place. The very substantive weight that was used to secure an emergency custody and restraining order, which remains uncontested to date: The Alleged Murder for Hire Plot. Why wouldn’t a family lawyer looking to abate the divorce case strike at the very merits on which the plaintiff’s arguments are based? The plaintiff in this case uses an almost one year old mfh plot allegation, which was not carried out, and no person has been declared a suspect or arrested, to control every filing to date and counsel does not refute the claims therein? What possible reason could that be?
A recent interview with Terri Horman’s son James, in which he states that his Mother cannot have a computer, cell phone, or leave her parents home in Roseburg.

Blink Analysis Editorial: Sealed Criminal Indictment OR Civil Commitment?

A Civil commitment, which would have had to been voluntary, such as a concern for Ms. Horman injuring herself, or some sort of dependency is a possibility, but a highly unlikely one considering she appeared in court yesterday.
Strictly my opinion of course, but based on my microsaccades, I think it is entirely possible that Terri Horman is under a pre-arrest indictment in the matter of the alleged murder for hire plot, or some derivative thereof.
It would certainly be unlikely that she could have been booked and granted bail without a leak, but a sealed indictment, which may or may not include a sealed arrest warrant, would follow Oregon’s propensity to use the grand jury as a form of “preliminary hearing.” In light of the fact that there is an ongoing criminal investigation into Kyron’s disappearance involving Federal, county and State investigative assets, it would be entirely appropriate.
The public would not know until such time as the indictment and any potentially attached writs are unsealed. Throw in the possibility there is always the chance that Clackamas County may be the charging county for such an offense and not Multnomah.
In which case, this is about to get very interesting. Recall MCSO chief Dan Staton saying Clackamas County Major Crimes Team is involved in the case? That would suggest at least part of a crime has been established in their jurisdiction. Rudy Sanchez resides in Clackamas County.
Clackamas County District Attorney John Foote and Criminal defense attorney Stephen Houze are well acquainted. You might say that Foote owes his very job to Houze in a way-
John Foote lost as the incumbent DA in 1996 to his own deputy district attorney Terese “Terry” Gustafson. Terry was in the middle of fighting an Oregon Bar complaint at the time which cleared her name just days before the inauguration.
The embattled DA did not take long to be the subject of more ethics violations including felony perjury charges for lying to a circuit judge about releasing the file of a juvenile that was ordered to be destroyed. Gustafson was disbarred.
Who filed the Bar complaint who also represented the accused boy who was subsequently acquitted?
Who was the prosecuting attorney for the Oregon Bar?
Stephen Houze.

Kyron’s parents accuse Terri Horman of kidnapping

BEAVERTON, Ore. - The biological parents of missing 7-year-old Kyron
Horman on Friday accused his stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman, of
kidnapping and warned her she will go to jail if she doesn’t cooperate
with investigators.
Part 1 of interview with Kyron's parents

“Terri, you’re at a crossroads in your life,” Kyron’s biological mother,
Desiree Young said in an interview with KATU News reporter Anna
Canzano. “We don’t always like what life has to give us, but we don’t
have a choice in that. The one thing we have a choice in is how we
handle these moments.

“You really have to do the right thing and make the right choice and help us bring Kyron home.

“That’s ultimately my message to her. She just needs to choose to do the right thing.”

Kyron disappeared from Skyline School on June 4 and after extensive searches, not a trace of him has been found.

Terri Horman is the last known adult to have seen Kyron after she
dropped him off at school the morning of June 4, and the investigation
has increasingly focused on her.

Investigators, however, have not named her a suspect or even a person of interest in the case, and they have made no arrests.

Meanwhile, Kyron’s Wall of Hope outside of his school will be coming
down on Sunday but a decision on where it will end up has not been made.

With the start of school on Sept. 7, the decision was made to move the wall in the interest of school safety.

This story is in progress and will be updated . . .http://www.katu.com/news/local/101688508.html

Kyron Horman's Wall of Hope memorial at Sklyine School will be moved
Sunday to an undetermined location, the boy's father, Kaine Horman,
told the media Thursday.
Parents and school officials were concerned about the memorial being up
when the school year starts, especially its emotional impact on students.
"As it turns out the Wall of Hope will not be moving too far from it's
current location at Skyline Elementary School to just two doors down on
Skyline. We would really appreciate a little help in taking the Wall
down because we will be relocating the entire section of fence as a
whole piece to keep the integrity of the Wall of Hope in place."
Kyron’s memory and the need to remind people that he is still missing
remains important, according to the family, but so is the need to do
everything possible to make the start of school as normal for the students going there.
There is also a concern that an ongoing presence of strangers coming
to the wall might also fuel safety fears in students.
The wall has served as a backdrop for national media reporting on the
case. Letters left at the wall have been picked up by Kaine Horman and
taken home to Kyron's bedroom.
Recent visitors who learned of the news understood, but struggled with their emotions.
For Myrna and George Erhardt, the Wall serves as reminder to keep
their grandchildren close. Toni Renkin has a child about Kyron's age and
plans to visit the wall no matter where it moves. Stephen Ross said he
just wished he could have had a chance to meet Kyron and get to know him better.
"For anyone who can help us please show up on Sunday 8/29/10 at
8:30am at Skyline Elementary to move the Wall to the Fire Station. "

KYRON HORMAN - 7 yo (2010) - Portland OR - Thread #2 - Page 15 Empty Re: KYRON HORMAN - 7 yo (2010) - Portland OR - Thread #2

Post by TomTerrific0420 Mon Aug 30, 2010 2:32 am

The biological parents of missing 7-year-old Kyron Horman spoke with a local TV reporter Friday.

In the nearly three months since her child disappeared, Desiree Young
says she has been angriest when Kyron's stepmother Terri Horman – the
woman last seen with the Skyline second grader – is put in a positive
light.

Of course, Terri Horman has not been charged or even named a person of
interest in Kyron's disappearance. Still, Desiree Young discussed her
frustration in a sit-down interview with Kyron's biological
father, Kaine Horman – as Kaine explained their hope for an iron-clad
arrest.

"She was not human to Kyron," said Young in a frank exchange. "And I don't think we should humanize her in anyway."

"Well, we're in this situation we're in, and Kyron's missing," said the
birthmother from Medford, who shared at least one weekend a month with
Kyron. "And [Terri] has put her feelings in front of his.

"She is not doing what's right, she's not coming forward, she's not
talking about what she knows ... She's not doing any of that because
she's concerned about Terri, and not Kyron," Young said. "That's just
not the right way to be a good person."

Kaine says he knows the public is thirsting for an arrest after more
than 12 weeks of searching, questioning, divorce drama and grand jury
testimony. However, he said he has no frustration with the
investigators.

"They have to make sure they can prove it, slap the cuffs on," Kaine Horman said. "So I'm not frustrated at all."

Kaine admits that the fact that there has been no arrest in what both he and Desiree believe to be a kidnapping case has been a "little disappointing."

However, "I'm glad they're thorough," Horman said. "[The investigators]
are amazing people to make that case solid, so when it comes time to
make an arrest there's no getting out of it. And that's what we want."
Even more, they want Kyron back. Asked what they think Kyron would say to them if he could speak out right now.

"Help me," Young said. "Take me home."

Dozens help relocate the Wall of Hope, a tribute to Kyron Horman, from Skyline School

Published: Sunday, August 29, 2010, 6:34 PM     Updated: Sunday, August 29, 2010, 8:18 PM

What once was a plain chain-link fence enclosing Skyline School quickly became a symbol of hope and support for missing 7-year-old Kyron Horman.

A little more than two weeks after his June 4 disappearance, the fence was adorned with notes, toy frogs, stuffed animals, candles and ribbons. For many, the decorated fence, known as the Wall of Hope, is a stationary reminder of the community's dedication to bringing him home.

On Sunday, it moved.

More than 75 volunteers arrived at Skyline School by 8:30 a.m. to shift the wall a few doors down Northwest Skyline Boulevard to the Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue station.

Kyron's mother, Desiree Young, had asked for the public's help in moving the wall, to ensure the well-being of students as they begin classes Sept. 7. She and Kyron's father, Kaine Horman, said keeping the wall close to the school was important.

The move, Kaine Horman said, was a positive moment during an increasingly difficult period. "Everything else is hard," he said. "School's starting, his birthday's coming up -- it's a tough time."

About 10 TVF&R volunteer firefighters helped men, women and children disassemble the fence and carry the sections, still covered with cards and toys, down the winding, rural road to the station.

The firefighters used shovels to loosen the fence from the dirt and large pliers to detach the middle of the fence from its frame. Volunteers carefully cut balloons, ribbons and letters from the top bar of the fence and gathered rubber frogs, decorated rocks and candles that had been placed at the fence's base.

Once the sections of the fence were freed, firefighters and volunteers carefully carried the wall down the sloping front lawn of the school. The groups slowly shuffled down Skyline Boulevard, a narrow road with little room to walk and steep embankments on its sides. A Multnomah County sheriff's deputy followed them with his hazard lights flashing to block traffic.

The pieces of the decorated fence and loose items were placed inside the station's garage, next to turnout coats and fire helmets. Once firefighters figure out how to reassemble it and restore some of the items, the fence will be on public display again along the road, in front of the station.

Young, who helped load gifts set around the fence into the back of a red truck, said many stuffed animals that people have left are in Kyron's room waiting for him.

Kyron was last seen at the school after he attended a science fair with his stepmother Terri Moulton Horman, who has said nothing publicly since Kyron disappeared. The search for the missing boy has turned into a criminal investigation.

Young and Kaine Horman said they were grateful for Sunday's volunteers, who shook their hands and offered words of support.

"It's overwhelming," said Kaine Horman, looking around the fire station where people were kneeling and reading the notes attached to the fence. "A lot of it speaks for itself."

When many of the volunteers were at the station, Young carefully untied one of the last, thin yellow pieces of ribbon that was secured around the school's gate. Ribbons with messages of hope were sent from across the country, and placed on the fence.

"It's heartwarming to know that people care about your son that way," Young said, fighting back tears.

As volunteers carried items from the fence, several stopped and looked at a heart with the names Kaine, Kyron and Kiara drawn on the school's parking lot in mint green chalk. Fliers with Kyron's picture were in car windows and on the back of some children's clothes.

Carol Knowlton, 60, of Mount Angel was among the people who started the Facebook page "Missing Kyron Horman," which has more than 74,000 members. But Sunday was the first time she had seen the wall.

"The letters from little kids really touch my heart," Knowlton said, choking up.

One laminated note was written on vanilla-colored paper, in wobbly gray letters. "Hi Kyron, I don't know you, but I hope you come home soon, so you can have a fun summer," it says. The note is signed "Your friend, Matthew." Faintly in the corner it says, "6 years old."

Kaine Horman said he laminated many of the letters and hung them on the wall.

Young said one poem, placed in a black frame, touched her in particular. She referred to the 10-stanza piece, titled "The Kyron Effect," as a "tear-jerker."

Young marveled at the effort its author put into it. "It just is incredible that someone would take that time for Kyron," she said.

The poem has three pictures of a smiling Kyron. In the right-hand corner, it's dated June 30, and has the name Jody Lee Mohlman, the city Corvallis and the words "father of three."

"Though you're not physically in our presence, we won't ever be far apart because you're always on our minds, and forever in our hearts," an introduction to the poem says.

Video system at Kyron Horman's Skyline School will set benchmark for
other Portland schools

Published: Monday, August 30, 2010, 4:42 PM Updated: Monday,

Skyline School in Northwest Portland, where Kyron Horman was last seen,
has been outfitted with a state-of-art video surveillance system that
sets a new standard for Portland Public Schools.

"Skyline now has the most comprehensive video surveillance in the district," said
Matt Shelby, spokesman for Portland Public Schools.

Before Kyron disappeared June 4, the brick school in rural Portland had no surveillance system -- like other
schools in the district. Now it has cameras panning the exterior and one camera inside in the main hall, Shelby said.

The surveillance system, which was completed last week with the installation of cameras,
was donated by Chown Hardware in Northwest Portland. Fred Chown, a co-owner of the store, approached
Portland Public Schools after Kyron disappeared, offering the donation.

"My motivation was not the situation at Skyline as much as the entire
district," Chown said. "I'm a product of Portland Public Schools and my
brother and kids are as well."

He said the district wanted to equip Skyline first, establishing a benchmark for other schools. Chown
said the district would like to install surveillance systems in other schools when funds become available.

"They really are trying to do the right solution long term," Chown said.

The district is now writing video surveillance standards, which should be completed by
mid-October, to ensure that any system installed in a PPS building provides adequate protection and can be maintained by facilities staff.
The standards, based on the Skyline system, will only allow:
Systems that are commercial grade, ensuring that the district can find
replacement parts;

Internet-based systems so that officials can log on from a remote site;

Cameras that can capture license plates and have detailed enough pictures so that people's faces are
recognizable;

Surveillance systems that are supported by the district's staff.

At Skyline School, the focus is on capturing the scene outside the building, with high-end cameras that pan the
building from one end to the other, recording people's faces and license plates.

"You're going to see everybody and everything," Chown said.

That is not necessarily a good thing, according to David Fidanque, executive director of the American
Civil Liberties Union of Oregon.

"I can understand why folks would want one at Skyline Elementary," he said. "The more that
technology allows the government to be constantly surveilling us, the less freedom we have."

But the system is legal under the law, he said.

The installation paved the way for volunteers to move the Wall of Hope outside Skyline School on Sunday. About 75 volunteers
showed up to dismantle the tribute to Kyron, aflutter with balloons, photos, stuff animals and poems from across the country and as far away as Britain.

It was taken to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue station on Northwest Skyline Boulevard, a
few doors down from the school where it will be reassembled and displayed.

Kyron's father, Kaine Horman, said it was important to him to have it close to the school. Both Horman and Kyron's mother,
Desiree Young, helped move the tribute. They sent out an email on Monday, thanking the public and firefighters for the help.

"We couldn't have done it without you," the note said.

The step-mother remains free. No-one has been arrested. And Terri Horman

but we don’t have a choice in that. The one thing we have a choice in is
how we handle these moments. You really have to do the right thing and

There is lot we do not know. We do not know what happened to Kyron

Three Months Later, Where's Kyron?
Updated: 14 minutes ago
(Sept. 3) -- Saturday will mark the three-month anniversary of the mysterious disappearance of Kyron Horman, and for everyone involved in the case of the missing Oregon boy, tensions are high as authorities remain tight-lipped about the status of the investigation.

No suspects have been named, but a grand jury has been meeting for more than a month. Kyron's eighth birthday, meanwhile, is coming up next week.

"No new information to provide at this time," the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office told AOL News this week.

According to a former FBI agent who has worked dozens of missing-person cases, that's not unusual in an investigation of this nature.

Authorities remain tight-lipped about the investigation into the disappearance three months ago of Kyron Horman.

"I can only speculate, but based upon my experience, I can tell you there are two types of cases," Harold Copus, now head of Copus Security Consultants in Atlanta, told AOL News. "There are quick-hit cases that require little investigation and result in a quick arrest, and then there are cases, such as this one, that require an intensive investigation."

Copus added: "Quite frankly, if you don't do X, Y and Z in cases like this, you will get egg on your face."

Kyron's stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman, has said she last saw Kyron walking to his classroom at Skyline Elementary School in Portland on June 4. When the boy failed to return home later that day, his family called the school and discovered Kyron was missing. Multiple searches have been conducted, but to date authorities have found no sign of Kyron.

In the weeks following Kyron's disappearance, his father obtained a restraining order against Terri, after learning she was allegedly involved in a murder-for-hire plot. The order also detailed Kaine Horman's belief that his wife played a role in his son's disappearance.

"I believe [Terri Moulton Horman] is involved in the disappearance of my son Kyron," reads Kaine Horman's request for a restraining order.

The restraining order not only prevents Terri Horman from having contact with her husband but also prohibits any contact with their 19-month-old daughter.

On the same day that the request for the order was filed, Kaine Horman also filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

The alleged murder-for-hire plot mentioned in court documents came to light in mid-June, when The Oregonian reported that a landscaper once employed by the Horman family told police Terri Horman had offered him a "large sum of money" to kill her husband.

Although she has not been named as a suspect or person of interest in the case, Terri Horman has hired prominent criminal defense lawyer Stephen Houze.

The grand jury convened in July to hear testimony in the case. Grand jury testimony in such cases typically lasts only a couple of weeks, but the fact that the jury is still convened means little, says one veteran defense attorney.

"It's [a] confidential [proceeding], so we don't really know what's going on," Steve Cron, a criminal defense attorney in Santa Monica, Calif., told AOL News. "On the face of it, it seems like an extraordinary amount of time, but we don't know if they've been meeting every day."

The district attorney's office did not return calls from AOL News, and it is unclear how long the proceedings will continue.

In his experience, Cron says, most grand jury cases do end with an indictment.

"I have rarely heard [of a case] where the prosecutor has gone to a grand jury to try to get somebody indicted and wasn't able to do it," Cron said. "It's a pretty easy task. Once you have someone indicted, that gives the police department any authority they want to go out and arrest somebody."

Silence on behalf of law enforcement should also not be interpreted to mean that the investigation has stalled, Copus said.

"At this stage, it looks like nothing is happening, but if you look below the water, the legs are really moving."

Kyron's biological parents did not respond to an interview request from AOL News.

On Aug. 27, Kyron's father and his mother, Desiree Young, spoke with reporters about the case. During the news conference, Young said she had "something to say to Terri."

"Terri, I feel like you are at a crossroads in your life," Young said, reading a prepared statement. "Our lives present moments like these, and we're not always going to like what life gives us. ... I don't doubt that the situation makes you feel like you don't have a choice, but you do and you always have.

"What you are going to be remembered for is what you do with these choices and how you handle it. How do you want to be remembered? This is not going to get any easier for you. The police will not stop until they find Kyron. You will go to jail."

Young said she did not confer with law enforcement officers before making the statement. "They did not help me format or review this statement in any way," she said.

"They are frustrated," Copus said. "They don't understand what is going on, and in their own way they are trying to put pressure on the stepmom. Psychologically, that sometimes works, but it can also backfire. It definitely draws a line in the dirt."

Kyron's parents said they plan to mark his Sept. 9 birthday with a remembrance in Medford and the Portland area.

Kyron's parents also continued to share their belief that their son is still alive and needs to be rescued, something Copus said is unlikely.

"Chances are slim to none," Copus said. "I hope I am wrong, but the outcome is seldom good. There are, of course, rare situations such as [that of] Elizabeth Smart, so there is always a remote possibility."
