Ore. -- DeDe Spicher, identified as a close friend of Terri Horman’s, has been questioned by detectives investigating seven-year-old Kyron’s disappearance. Her home was also searched last week.

Spicher has known Kaine and Terri Horman for about seven years and used to work out with Terri, a former competitive bodybuilder, on a regular basis.

She describes herself on blogspot as "a fitness junkie, med school wannabe, pet-sitting veteran, HOA board survivor and worm herder.” She also talks about her first marathon, first century bike ride and what it’s like to grow a garden on the small patio of her condo. Her last blog entry was on May 5, a month before Kyron disappeared.

She also has a profile posted on the Yard-sharing Web site, hyperlocavore which describes her as someone who’s passionate about organic gardening and actively seeking a yard to share.

She wrote that she wants to learn from others about natural gardening methods.

Spicher lives in a condo located on SW Sagert Street in Tualatin that has a “for sale” sign posted in the front yard. She apparently used to serve as the president of the condo association.

A reliable source told KGW that investigators learned Spicher was doing gardening work not far from the Horman home in Northwest Portland on the day Kyron disappeared. Spicher reportedly left where she was working on the garden at 11:15 a.m. on June 4 and returned around 1 p.m.

The person who owns the house, who was cooperating with investigators, told them she called Spicher on her cell phone but she didn't answer, the source told KGW. A person who was working with Spicher, who was also cooperating with investigators, told them of trying to unsuccessfully find Spicher. Both people have told investigators they have no idea where Spicher was during that period.

Kyron Horman Update: DeDe Spicher Wasn’t Cooperative With Us Either

Last night’s announcement (PDF) from the parents of Kyron Horman confirmed our suspicion that DeDe Spicher lied about her identity when we visited her house earlier this month.

Perhaps that’s not surprising, since Kyron’s parents accuse Spicher of “refusing to cooperate with law enforcement” and of providing Terri Moulton Horman with “support and advice that is not in the best interests of our son.”

On June 30, four days after Kaine Horman left home with his daughter Kiara, several cars were seen driving away from the house where Terri Horman remained living alone.

One of those cars belonged to Terri Horman’s parents. Another belonged to Spicher.

Curious if they had any insight into the case, we knocked on the door of her condo in Tualatin several days later. The woman who answered the door was the same person shown in the photo and identified as Spicher in the press release from Kyron’s parents.

But the woman at the door told us DeDe Spicher wasn’t home. She identified herself only as a “friend” who was in town “to help.”

Asked where she was from, the woman paused and looked away.

“Where I’m from,” she said.

We left our card and walked away, thinking that if people are going to fib, they should at least be quick about it.

Sheriff Daniel Staton and Multnomah County Multnomah County Sheriff's Office want to thank the media representatives that submitted question regarding the Kyron Horman investigation. There were numerous questions that could not be answered based upon this being an ongoing investigation. Multnomah County Sheriff's Office has a responsibility for maintaining the integrity of this on-going investigation and is why questions requesting specific details of the investigation were not answered.

Due to the length of the "questions and answers" document, it has been included with an attachment.

The next press conference is scheduled for Tuesday July 27, 2010 at the Multnomah County Sheriff's Training Facility located at 2955 NE 172nd Place, Portland, Oregon, 97230. It will begin at 2 p.m.

Chief Deputy Tim Moore and Captain Monte Reiser will be conducting the press conference. The purpose of this press conference will be to provide an update of the case and respond to questions that were submitted by the media.

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office would like to ask the public to only use the tip line for providing useful information and not for other purposes i.e. providing opinions or comments that would not benefit investigators.

The Kyron tip line is (503)261-2847. If a person believes they have sighted Kyron they should call 9-1-1.

How many tips have come in so far?

As of this date we can account for approximately 3300 leads which have been developed from the thousands of tips that have been received. Continuous information comes in on a daily basis which prevents our ability to give you an actual count at this time. All tips pass through the hands of a detective and are reviewed, prioritized and assigned for follow up. Some tips are duplicates and confirmed as such.

When was the last time Terri Horman met with police?

We have not spoken with her since she retained counsel.

We have recovered many photos and video footage. We will not be able to comment on their evidentiary value. We continue to ask individuals in possession of photos and video surrounding the Skyline Grade School event on June 4, 2010 to provide that to investigators. The photos and videos that have been provided by the media have helped further the investigation process.

Investigators put pressure on Terri Horman's friends

PORTLAND, Ore. - Investigators are increasing pressure through search warrants and polygraph testing on friends of Terri Moulton Horman, including Dede Spicher, a woman the family of missing Kyron Horman accused Thursday of not cooperating with investigators.


According to multiple sources, investigators are questioning those who were closest to Terri Horman, especially after the restraining order was issued near the end of June.

One woman, who is moving out of a home in Tigard, said she underwent a polygraph test and had investigators come to her home with a search warrant within the last week.

Terri Horman (Kyle Mallory) KOIN Local 6 has confirmed that Terri Horman is back in Portland. Horman was seen Friday morning in her dad’s Toyota driving into the Pacwest building with her mother Carol.

Terri’s attorney, Stephen Houze, has an office on the 12th floor of the building.

This comes less than 24 hours after word came down that Terri’s friend, DeDe Spicher, hasn’t been cooperating with investigators. Reportedly, investigators have looked into Spicher and other friends of Terri.

It is unclear if Terri’s arrival in the Portland area is tied with the recent events, but it is the first time since Saturday she’s been seen here. Terri was forced to leave the Northwest Sheltered Nook Road home she and Kaine shared Saturday.

She and another friend of Terri Horman said they’re cooperating fully with detectives since they have nothing to hide.

Both said they feel they’ve been dragged into the investigation by simply being supportive of Terri and doing things like visiting her at her home.

But both said they are stepping away from the situation as much as they can because it’s simply not something they want to be connected with anymore.

One woman said she underwent a five-hour polygraph examination about Kyron’s disappearance Thursday. She described in detail how investigators first questioned her for three hours and asked her about everything she knows about the case, Terri Horman and the day Kyron vanished.

Then investigators ran her through what would be covered in the test, and in the fifth hour, she was physically hooked up to the machine.

She said she passed her polygraph.

Dede Spicher declined to answer questions from reporters Friday.

The family is in a heated debate, this has blown up all the GLP doom right out of the water, I've woke up quite a few of them.
But we all hope somehow it's all just her trying to help a friend, or something. And the family has been in total agreeance that Dede needs to spill it no matter what happened, this has to stop, here and now.

Her biggest fear in life was to let down her daddy, she is the apple of his eye, and he is right there with her as a daddy should be.
But he is a sherriff, and a very honest man, and if I know Dede she will lie at first because she knows his heart might not take this, the whole family is worried about uncle don.

She is goin before the judge Monday, and she is not talking to anyone now, but I think the truth is about to break wide open on this case, Don will see to it, even if it's his last case.

I havent been able to open either link :( I cannot believe how crazy this case has become. TH, you make me want to . I wonder how she feels right now?? Does she even care? Im under the impression she cares about NO ONE but herself. Selfish selfish poor excuse for a woman and human being.

I had signed up on the site GLP a while back and Jones is the cousin of Spicher. He is actually an OP to the site. I'm not too crazy about this site, however everything you want to know is on there. There is about 12 pgs so far. Jones is actually in shock and knows his uncle the Sheriff will get to the bottom of finding Kyron.
There will be more info in the morning on this site GLP. Beware, there is alot of profanity. One does not have to sign up to read all the info.
Like I said before, sometimes people feed each other and make things worse than they really are, not realizing there are consequences for their actions. These women are in their forties-it's unbelievable sometimes. P.S. Spicher is supposed to go in front of the Grand Jury on Monday, but the cousin said that the date could change.

Sources detail Terri’s timeline day Kyron disappeared

PORTLAND, Ore. - According to multiple sources, Terri Moulton Horman
claims she left Skyline School at 8:45 in the morning without Kyron the
day he disappeared and that between 8:45 a.m. and 10:10 a.m. she ran
errands at local grocery stores and can prove it.

As KATU news first reported, at least two stores, the Albertsons on
Hillsdale Highway and the Sunset Fred Meyer, are cooperating with
investigators. The Albertsons confirmed it turned over surveillance tape
to investigators in the case.

Between 10:10 in the morning and 11:39, Terri claimed she drove her
daughter Kiara around on rural roads in the family’s white truck because
Kiara had an earache. She claimed she was trying to soothe the toddler
with the motion of the vehicle.

Early on investigators made a request of the public for any video they
might have of the white truck traveling on specific roads through
Northwest Multnomah County and portions of Washington County.

At 11:39 a.m., Terri checked in at a 24-hour Fitness in Beaverton on
Waterhouse Avenue and worked out for about an hour until 12:40 p.m.

By 1:21, Terri claimed she'd traveled home - a distance of nearly 11
miles - and was posting photos on Facebook she'd taken that morning of

Sources said she also e-mailed the teacher to find out when she could
come pick up the project as she had not taken it home.

Yet according to Kaine Horman, that was the very reason Terri requested
to drive the truck that day to Skyline School.

He said in an e-mail to KATU News: “I typically drive the truck and
Terri drives the car. She wanted to use the truck to bring Kyron's
science fair project home, easier done with the truck than the car."

Two of Terri's friends who've taken polygraph tests and turned over
evidence said they are cooperating fully with investigators and have
nothing to hide.

DeDe Spicher, another friend of Terri’s, has been accused by Kyron’s
biological parents, Desiree Young and Kaine Horman, for not cooperating
with police. Spicher refused to answer reporter’s questions Friday.

No one has been named a suspect or person of interest in the case, and
police have not made any arrests.

PORTLAND -- As the probe into the disappearance of Kyron Horman enters its eighth week,
investigators are focusing their energy on how his step-mother, Terri
Horman, spent a few key hours the morning he vanished.

There are gaps in what she had told investigators she did that day,
including a key portion of time that she said she took daughter Kiara
for a ride, according to reliable sources, including people who have
been interviewed by investigators.

She told investigators that she drove Kiara around a series of rural
roads for an hour, saying she was trying to calm her down because she
didn't feel well. Meanwhile, she told some of her friends that Kiara had
an earache.

Investigators have been comparing where she said she was with what they
have been able to establish about her movements that day.

There are some things she did that day that were confirmed.

She went to the gym for about 45 minutes that morning and arrived home
about 1 p.m. to post pictures from the science fair on her Facebook
page.

Surveillance video from stores she said she was at,along with roads she
claims to have traveled were being studied to test the veracity of where
she said she was for a portion of the morning.

Meanwhile, these sources say that some of Terri's friends have not only
been the subject of searches, they have been interviewed by
investigators and, in some cases, took polygraphs.

The reliable sources, including people who have been interviewed by
investigators, told KGW investigators said that there was probable cause
to arrest Terri in connection with Kyron's disappearance, and for
solicitng someone to kill her husband but the choice has been for the
investigation to continue.

Terri Horman has not been charged with any crime though law enforcement

PORTLAND, Ore. – Investigators remain busy with 3,300 leads in the case
of Kyron Horman's disappearance. On Saturday however the search for
Kyron Horman came back to Skyline School – more than seven weeks after
the second grader was first reported missing.

Searchers took over the rural northwest Portland elementary school's
parking lot Saturday morning, from around 10 a.m. until early afternoon.
So while Kyron Horman's Wall of Hope continues to draw people to
Skyline School, on this Saturday those here to see the tributes were
surprised by something else.

Beaverton visitor Todd Wise said he saw a group of searchers leaving the
parking lot, "geared up with gear" and what looked to be lots of
supplies in their trucks.

"I asked if [they were] still searching," Wise said, "and they said, 'We
just have a couple lose ends we're following up on.'"

Multnomah County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Mary Lindstrom said
30-or-so searchers were out again. However, she said it's a routine part
of the investigation, and not directly tied to a new tip.

Former sheriff's captain turned lawyer Bruce McCain said, based on the
latest Q&A from Kyron's family - released in writing with each
word carefully chosen and vetted:

"One of the questions was: Do you have any information to believe that
Kyron is alive?" reads McCain. "The best they could come up with is 'We
continue to hope.' That puts them in the category of thousands of other
citizens that don't have any information."

Kyron's family now puts the public
pressure on 43-year-old Dede Spicher, one of Terri Horman's friends
whom they have said is hampering the investigation. But here's where
this gets even more interesting:

Spicher's father, Don Spicher works for Klamath County - the same county
that took the lead on the expanded search for Kyron.

However, the sheriff there assures us Deputy Spicher is part time and
only works summers for marine patrol, and had nothing at all to do with
the search and rescue operation. Even so, "he has to be very careful
that he's not walking the edge, helping his daughter potentially avoid
apprehension or in anyway hinder this case," McCain said.

We spoke to DeDe's cousin Saturday. He said his uncle is an honorable
man who DeDe looks up to. Her cousin said that if the deputy asked DeDe
to cooperate she would.
