Missing Oregon boy’s parents renew plea to stepmom

Kyron Horman's father, mother and stepfather said in an e-mail to news organizations late Monday that they believe Terri Moulton Horman has not resumed speaking to law enforcement. The statement was primarily written by Desiree Young, the boy's biological mother.

They were responding to a statement from Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton, who said last week that Terri Moulton Horman, Kyron's stepmother, is cooperating with the investigation. Investigators haven't named her as a suspect or a person of interest.

"We believe that the sheriff's statement could have been misinterpreted and possibly reflects Terri's cooperation to participate in prior weeks during the investigation," according to the family's statement.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Lawyers representing Kyron Horman's estranged father and stepmother are expected to meet privately with a judge Tuesday to address contempt of court charges against Terri Horman, who is accused of sharing secret court documents and having an affair with one of her husband's high school friends while the investigation into the 7-year-old's disappearance carried on.


In records released Monday, Terri Horman was asked to appear in court in connection with claims she violated a restraining order filed by Kaine Horman last month.


The order stated that police gave Kaine Horman "probable cause to believe" his wife tried to hire someone to kill him and was involved in Kyron's disappearance.

The documents state that authorities said Michael Cook, who has known Kaine Horman since high school, went to the family's northwest Portland home June 28, a few days after Kaine Horman moved out with the couple's 19-month-old daughter. That day, Terri Horman showed him the confidential restraining order, the records state, and pointed out "particular sections that were noteworthy."


Pictures of the restraining order were found on Cook's cell phone, according to documents, and Cook told investigators he shared information from the documents with at least two other people.

I don't think there can be anyone out there that thinks that Terri isn't involved in Kyron's disappearance. Who else knows? Maybe the landscaper or maybe Mr. Cook. Obviously men with no morals and no conscience or they never would have been involved with TH in the first place.

Maybe some sort of a deal with either of them for immunity in a criminal case, or monetary incentive might get them to roll over on TH. Maybe if her older son begs for an answer maybe she'll tell what happened. Otherwise you are looking at years of this cold bitch keeping her mouth shut & Kyron's family never knowing what happened.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Searchers returned to the area where a second-grade boy vanished from his northwest Portland school, neighbors said Tuesday.
The massive effort to find Kyron Horman was called off last month, but since then, Multnomah County crews have been spotted near the Horman family's home and around Sauvie Island.
Over the past 10 days, detectives have scoured previously-searched properties near Skyline Elementary School, neighbors said. They said the investigators appeared to focus on people who own pickup trucks.
One man, who wished to be identified only as Roger, said investigators came to his home within the past week on a tip.
"A big SUV showed up with a couple of people in it; they wanted to know if I was this certain family," he said. "They had a tip why they wanted to talk to this family. That's all they told me."
Roger said he was surprised to see searchers again because he was told they wouldn't be back.
Other people living in the area said their homes and properties have been searched as many as three times.
Hundreds of people joined in the search effort immediately following Kyron's June 4 disappearance. Deputies haven't named any suspects or persons of interest in the ongoing criminal investigation.

to an interview that aired on this morning's "Today" show.

"Without a doubt," Desiree Young said, Terri Horman plotted the boy's

"I think it was very planned," she said, sitting

Tony Young agreed.

"I absolutely believe that Terri Horman is
responsible for Kyron's disappearance," he said.

Desiree Young said she overlooked warning signs from her son before he vanished.

She described "red flags," such as Kyron's increasing unhappiness with
returning to his father and stepmother's Portland home after visiting
his mother.

"He wanted to come live with us," she said. "Several
times he would just break down and sob because he wanted to stay."

She said she's guilt-stricken that she wasn't there to protect him and that
she missed the science fair – the last time anyone saw the Skyline
second-grader.

Desiree Young also responded to new allegations that Terri Horman sent explicit texts to a high school
friend of Kyron's father, Kaine. "It's disgusting," she said.

Desiree Young issued a plea for her son's safe return: "To the person or
persons that have Kyron, I miss my son so much that I can't breathe at
times. Please let him go. Just take him to a remote pay phone or
somewhere out of the way and tell him to call 9-1-1."
